Well as the topic says, my auto gearbox is having a some troubles. The overdrive button on the gearstick doesnt engage or disengage overdrive anymore, though usually when i floor it, it kicks down anyway. I find after i've been driving for a while though, it no longer kicks down though. Ive just had my transmission serviced and the guys there quoted me sumfin like $1300 to get it all fixed. Now theres no way im gonna pay that, so what should i look for to try fix it?

look for another gearbox. i have a spare one in my garage that works fine, for just such a reason. it cost me the grand total of $50 and would take me 3 hours to swap over if mine was buggered.

isnt there like some sort of solenoid or sumtin to trigger the o/d i would check out like the wiring for the button and **** like that first rather than get rid of a box that might be fine?

Yeah mine has a prob like that, I intend to get the gearbox computer checked over by an electronically-minded friend. A while ago I had a similar problem and it turned out to be some rooted bits in the computer......$30 and I was workin ok again, now its got probs again, so i might change the computer. -David
