hey guys, just wondering if there would be any problem in using some leftover dexron 2 auto trans oil that i have lying around in my diff instead of actual 'differential' oil sold from shops?? I suspect the current oil in the diff is, well, "past its use by date" and the diff would benefit form some new juice. It would be handy if it works, but its no big deal if its unsuuitable, id rather have a working diff than an extra $7. thanks in advance. creeper

Like you said, if youd rather have a working diff than an extra $7, go get the proper stuff man.

diff oil has extra additives (hence the smellyness of the sh!t) compared to other gear oils for a reason. go and get the right stuff.
