G'day Guys I am just wondering if any of you fellas know a decent place for an engine re-build. My pride and joy is a 1986 vl calais turbo 5 speed currently pulling 270 rwhp. I have currently upgraded the turbo to an INS T-61, but the inlet is set to 80mm which means shes not spooling until about 4000, and of course, with the red line around 6, it makes for a pretty quick gear change (it was suggested to go smaller for quicker spool, but i would then lose top end hp, and because im gonna be searching for 400rwhp+ with this re-build, i've just left it). the rings are also shot to hell, so when the boost hits (running a 45mm external wastegate- the boost is sposed to be running 7 and 14-dyno printout- but my gauge reads about 12 and 17) she is pumping oil out, enough to fill two catch cans in any one run i've dealt with a few places, but i have not yet found one that stands out from the rest. im looking at upgrading all internals, plus adding a bit of extra fruit, so i will obviously be looking at more then a few $$$. I am also gonna rip the trannie out because she is rough as guts (from what i've read this seems to be a common problem). its a mx7 box, so i was thinking about either re-building her and get a short-shift, getting a different manual box like out of a skyline, or putting a trimatic auto with quickshift. so if you fellas know of somewhere thats worthy of my cash and does a professional job, then please let me know. I would have loved to go on that cruise with you guys, but i will be working (im a miner, plus i would probably have to bring about 10 litres of oil ). Hey Bantman.. Yeah Luke Harris is one of my mates... he now lives in Sydney.... is your car a factory calais turbo manual??? Brett from PSI performance does a good job on VLT's. He always has 2-3 of them in his workshop, and I was there today and he had a few there. He has worked on mine and seems to know his stuff..... No one else apart from my normal mechanic has done any work on my car... So I can't comment.

Gday Bantman! Yeah my motor will be ripped out soonish.. Mark and I are going to do the rebuild at his place once i have my pennies saved up. I'd agree with adonis in saying that Southside Engine Centre are good... They built SLOW 6. Other than that.... If u dont mind waiting get it made up in the eastern states... ppl know thier stuff there Lauren Heerey??? The one that used to own that EB GT Faker?? That ur ex.. My mate Mark also reckons another place to get the machining done is at Performance Modifications in Ossy Park, reckons they are really good. any of you fellas heard or know anything about them? when i bought the car, i got alot of paper work from the owner, one of them being the orginal order form for the car. And sitting there in the transmission section were the three digits, MX7. so yeah, shes a factory manual, though when shes crunching and refusing to shift, i wish it wasn't. No Arie, thats not her, not sure if that is a good thing or not. she is mate of Louise's. used to go out with that #### brendon.
