Hey all, I am in the middle of making a decision. GT3540 600hp .82 exh AR or GT3540 700hp 1.06 exh AR This turbo will be going on an RB30DET using forged pistons, The car will be my daily street driven car. And i would also like to punch out a 12sec quater. Which size would be better suited to my application.. and WHY ? thanks

the .82, it will spool quicker! then again with the DOHC setup you shouldn't have many issues with spool time. 12 second quarter = 200+ kw at the wheels so i'd just go the smaller AR to keep spool time down. good luck with your choice, whichever way you go! will be a pretty mean HR31, i've seen your car around a fair bit if it's the one i'm thinking of (SLO-31?)

as a daily driver id go the .82 cause it will spool quiker than the 1.06 therefore u will have less lag on the street

yeah its a HR31 SLO-31 i got 300hp@wheels now... so that 200+rwkw the ,82 would spool faster, and feel quicker on street... but 1.06 will go all out on the strip.... hmm... i'm waiting to see how the .82 goes on RB25's too... edit: maybe i am really hoping for an 11 ... gotta go faster than gormo did in 'street' trim Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

The GT3540 600hp .82 exh AR is one mad turbo dude... Stick to it, if you gonna use it as a daily driver... less lag Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

From what my turbo supplier told me, the 600hp and 700hp turbos have different wheels. AND the turbine housings are different between the 700 and 600hp versions, making a total of 4 turbine housings. I know this cause I am going to swap my 0.82 for a 1.06, and he said that he only has the 700hp 1.06 housings and not the 600hp. It may sound confusing, but this is what dynamic turbo services in salisbury told me. Anyway I have the same engine and I am planning to use the 1.06. Brent (HSVSUX) is dyno-ing his motor this week and doing a back-to-back comparo of the housings. Lets wait and see...

http://www.turbofast.com.au/GTseries.html check out Ray Halls site the GT35R only comes wit the GT40 comp wheel tho, he has told me that much a GT35R is a GT35/40, it only comes wit the GT40 comp wheel so they leave the 40 off this is wot Ray Hall told me

what prices have people come across for these turbos. I found that the GT3040 and the GT3540 are the same price. So i have decided for the GT3540. Just the exh housing sizing has got me stumped. I can get a GT3540 with 1.06 housing for a good price, But dont want it to be overly laggy... after driving an RB20det iwth a TD06 so yeh anyone got prices? anyone keen to buy a few at the same time to try and score a group buy?

flash some cash... and ya mum.. in my face and everything is for sale... i sorta reached the crisis point where i figured i cant afford a new car... and 300hp just wasnt cutting the mustard anymore... so what else is left to do? RB30DET and big turd0 Dont happen to have/know someone with a SII block? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I run a GT35 with 0.82 A/R on my RB30, I can tell you wont need a 1.06. These turbo's are ****ing insane, GT35 with 0.82A/R is rated at 600hp, this turbo has run a 10.40 on a RB30 before no problems. I wouldn't go for 1.06 unless its just going to be just a strip car. My car will be dynoed in couple weeks so will post some results, it has already made 195rwkw on only 10psi.

dyno done. I kept the same spec as my last 280RWKW run, came out with 450fwhp (17.5 psi) - .82 turbine. spent a few hours fine tuning fuel map etc. bumped boost up to 22- 23 psi made 535 fwhp tweaked ign map made 545fwhp raised boost to 25 psi from 5500 - 7000RPM (22 psi below 5500) made 564hp changed turbine housing to 1.06 made 587fwhp at same boost as above run 100rpm higer for pk power. power came in 400 rpm later and much softer, power / trq was very linear with big turbine. tried lower boost as per first runs with the bigger housing, very interesting stuff. completed maybe 40 + runs with some of them being 2 minutes long varying rpm, boost etc to allow maps to be tuned perfectly.

my power goal will be around 300rwkw so the .82 seems like the go... But after HSVSUX comment with only 400rpm difference in peak power.... spoze i cant be picky anything will be better than the lag monster RB20 i got now Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

400rpm LATER... but that's what i've heard from .63-.82 the difference is approx 400rpm, but boost comes on WAY to hard with the .63 HSVSUX, how did the 1.06 go on lower boost? You siad it was interesting... and i am intereted Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yer wouldnt mind knowing how the 1.06 went, there suppost to be awesome good for low to mid 10s, no one has really done a comparison on the 2.

the 1.06 was a bit strange at 17 - 18 psi. boost came in later than the .82 (as expected) but peak trq was less and the average trq from 3500 - 7000 was lower, it made less HP too, and the peak HP it made was 250rpm lower than the peak of the .82. intake temps were about the same with both turbines at this boost level.
