Your mate can can't he? Isn't he the one with 500, 000rwMW that has tubs for the track and regular guards for the street? If you were writing the post I was thinking of...

BINGO, luke! like i said before YLDPSI, you can un-tub your car real easy with spinifex and duct tape, but it has to be engineer certified before it will be street legal again.

I think you and wellsy should hook up... Take it to an fabrication place that specializes in car mods, ie: John Taverna or someone of that ilk.

You come here going on about this fast vl that will be tubbed for the drags and untubbed for the street but you have no idea what you are saying and you make yourself look silly. Tubbing is modifying the wheel arches by chopping them and welding sheet metal to make them bigger so you can fit wider tires. It is only allowed for drags unless you get it fully engineered for street use. So to tub and untub a car you would be continuously cutting and welding the arches.

Ask your mate about tubbing then, if he's getting a 500kw monster built then he should know what it is. Unless of course he went into the workshop with no idea and they said hmm.. 100 bucks and we'll get you 500rwkw as they laughed at him. He'll get it back with a hi-clone in it and a dodgied up dyno graph saying 503rwkw.

how much does tubbing cost? and can u put street tyres on after its been tubbed if u want to run it on the street and disguise the fact that its been tubbed for drag slicks?

A barrel load, because if I am pretty sure the diff will have to be modified ie: shortened. So you can house the large slicks.

Plus the setup of the Suspension. So are you going 4 link?

YLDPSIArchived member
is that true? the diff definitely needs shortening? and what will have to be done to the suspension?

don't worry, your mate will be able to answer all your questions because he's the one building the 7 second, 500kw car. if everything you have told us is true, he will have considered the fact that he will need a custom made diff, tubbing and 4-link suspension. don't worry about it dude, your mate has it under control.
