Any one give me a run down on replacing the front and rear trailing arm bushes? IE: is it a job i can do @ home with some time and effort, or do i need some special equipment? my front (arm --> frame / car) bushes look farked, and the rear ones (arm --> diff) can be moved around with a screwdriver, ie: buggered as well..
Thanks,
Joel
mate i hav the same problem. ive been told its better to just get the driveline specialists to do it, as they need to be pressed in, although my mate somehow bashed them into his VH. i cant c that it would be that hard if u pull them out and clamp them in a vice like doing ur panhard ones.
What i did, was go and get one of those pedders $14 safety checks, tells you everything. Then when he is trying to get you to book your car in to have it all repaired, you laugh at him and walk away. lol. Go and get all of the parts yourself, in my case i got all noltec bushes from a place in wollongong where i get them for about 50% discount(can help you guys out with this sort of discount too) and then get your local suspension guy to put it all in. The difference was quite fantastic too. I replaced all bushes in the front end and basically where you point the car is where it goes, which is a big difference from before. Not very noisy either unlike nolathane from what i have heard. Well worthwhile upgrade.
The rear trailing arms can be replaced with pre fabricated ones. And mabe the front as well? You can get these from pedders $90 or repco $104 (pair change over) i think was the price.
So if you have ever changed springs, its that easy. (Get a manual if you don't have one)
You can't press bushes with out a press.
And yes, as ace vl said well worth doing....it will make braking and handling better.
eeek trailing arm bushes..
Its better off just buying new trailing arms from the nolathane cat. it makes life easier coz replacing them is a very difficult job
