Ok, I'm after the seal for the rear extension housing in the mx7.
If not - measurements or something would be great? The only place I can find one going by description is Lawrences, and they want 30 bucks. And theres no chance I'm forking out that much for a little seal.
Considering the other places I asked all only had the n/a one. For 2 dollars.
Can anyone help me out here? I could go to a bearing joint and get something if I knew what measurements it was etc.
Anyone?
Well I'll Bump this thread back up and tell my story.
I needed to get the genuine one because I needed to dump the oil replace the seal and fill the oil in a matter of hours and not lose any time without the car.
So originally I rang Nissan about the part, nah can't get it through them.
Rang Holden, yep, 30 dollars.
Anyway, I finally rang Holden and just said dammit, order it in I need it.
Collected it today, Packaging says
"NISSAN Genuine Parts"
I'm Feeling a little pissed off but I'm going to call Nissan back now and ask them for a price and quote the part number. *******s.
Okay, Just rang Nissan. 26 Dollars. Might come in handy if you want to save 4 dollars
You'll have to read out the part number because as soon as you say Holden they just laugh at you and send you away. Thats what the previous guy did anyway.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
Bearing places DO NOT stock those seals, there are a custom nissan size only!
Same with almost all the internal bearings as well, NSK has a deal with Nissan!
Insane 321 360 1G10 Theres a dash in there somewhere. I'll find the packaging and update it tomorrow.
And yeah Jet, after looking at the seal it doesn't look like its that easy to duplicate, a metal thread inside. Spring on the center, and even the rubber underneat in the middle seems to have a helix effect. Fairly intense I thought
Na its the sizes, most seals stick to a common size, like 10mm ID and 24mm OD, but NSK or whoever make them for the company use weird sizes like 10.6mm and 23.3mm etc etc.
Once i was looking for parts for a honda, same story!
Ahh ok, it looked fairly intense to replicate either way. Oh well, gotta wait til tomorrow to crawl on my back again and get the tailshaft out. Gotta love those bolts.
