hey guys well as some of u kno im doing a manual conversion, ive gotten all the bolts off my auto and now its time to get it off the engine. Im using jack stands to support my whole car, how/wat is the best way to get this gb out? u cant just slide if out coz of the starter motor blob...ideas? cheers Ian

when i took mine out i first removed the starter, then the bolts holding the torque convertor to the flex-plate (these are accessed by removing the dust cover.) And then it can be slid back a little and then lowered down.there are tabs on the motor that slot into the bellhousing, hence why u need to slide it back a bit first. hope this helps.

a trolley jack will be ur best friend in this situation.

or a hoist! i can imagine it'd be a bit tricky stabilising the tranny when it's sitting on the trolley jack!

nah not really trolley jacks r fine use a big arse one and support the tranny on the heavy end and u shouldnt hav any probs, if u still hav trouble try using 2 of them. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

a hoist wont do u much good , coz the box will be 4 foot off the ground , u still need a gearbox stand then. one trolley jack is all u need , position it under it , maybe get another mate to help here , roll it back so it comes off the dowell pins (bellhousing to block) etc , support the yoke end coz it will be a bit top heavy , lower the jack down and pull it out. simple

just ****in take the starter motor off and all the bolts then put a trolley jack under it and drop the bitch just make sure you take the bolts off the tourqe conveter that hold it onto the flywheel

make sure you have about 10 extensions so you can get to the top bolt on the auto up against the firewall! whaadakarnt. ditto with the starter motor bolts.
