hey guys well ive only got 1 bolt to take off until my auto Gb drops out, its the one right at the top behind the cylindar head. Anyone got an idea of how to get this ******* off? The O ring spanner im using has a slight bend in it and its hitting the fire wall which prevents it from actually sitting on the bolt right, and if i reverse it, it hits the engine and doesnt sit right. Me and my friend are just unbolting the gb from under the car, no hoist, so anyone got ne ideas? Cheers Ian

go to supercheap and buy a set of cheap spanners if they dont fit get a vice and a gas torch and heat it up and put a custom bend in it. mine can of with a straight 13mm spanner but. they always have spare ones for sale for a $1 on the counter at supercheap

get underneath the car , use a extension bar and a socket and ratchet. very easy to do

As OVL said... hang the gearbox off the engine (take off the crossmember etc) then it will sit low enough to easily put a very long extension + socket in there and use a big ratchet.

I did it once, use a long extension and join it with another 2-3 extensions and and use a Zap gun or do it manually. Remember to put the load of the auto on a jack or something else you will have trouble getting that bolt loosened. P.S its a nightmare to remove your auto without a hoist, I did it in 3hours with a mechanic friend. Never again. I just go to the tranny joint they charged me $50 take one out put reco one in. Hope that helps.

haha id almost go do it witha carton and wouldnt even get under car i could reach down side of my motor and get it with ring spanner. Gearbox swap is easy all u need is 4 high car stands and a trolley jack and a carton to stop u dehydrating

yea i the auto gb is heavier, i rekon u should have a trolley jack underneath it when u are ready to let it drop, just stabilize with ur hands and get a mate to lower the jack then wehn the auto gb is out, kick the f*ck thru it :P ramps would be a good idea, use them, they should be fine.

hahahaha i just banned you eevl - we are sick of your persistant shit honestly 712hjp - just get the car up on all fours , jackstands under each corner. get a trolley jacy under the box to support its weight , by the sounds of it , u have everything else undone , so the majority of the weight will be moreso on that bolt , which will make it hard to undo. maybe even take the rocker cover off to give a bit more sight and handroom back there. simple ring spanner and u will be fine

do you need a different flywheel to do the conversion to manual?

yes autos dont have a flywheel they have thin plate with a the ring gear on the outside called a flex plate manuals ahve different bolts for the flex plate as well marked MT for manual and AT for auto and dont forget to change the spigot bush . to undo the bolts in teh convertor u will need a socket on your front pulley to turn the motor over to get to each bolt one at a time
