I have heard of VLT's go for $2000 but I bet you they are in original nick with high kms, rust, worn engine ,transmission, brakes, suspension, etc. $6800 these days is a good price to pay for an average VL (I mean a bog stock one) whereas you'd be paying over $10,000 for a low km model around 8 years ago (under 100,000 kms in some peoples books) as I remember looking at one someone was selling one for $9600 with 132,000 kms on the clock & some rust,a Holden saleyard back then also was after $13,000 for an N/A executive which I though was too steep as it had faded metallic paintwork on the roof and you could get an executive for that price brand new back in 1988,back then (in 1996) I'd expect to pay that much for a top notch VLT. I bought an N/A executive nearly 2 year ago for $1500 but it was in really crap nick and I have had to put a lot of work into it.

I spoke to a guy the other day who picked up a decent looking white vlt with walkinshaw kit front mount , 5 speed, exhaust, internally and externally in good form but with stuffed engine for $2500. good deals are to be found from time to time there's no "figure" that should make someone decide gee this is too cheap i'm staying away from it...

fair enough guys, thanks for ya help.. im only asking coz i know sweet f.a about vlt's and the going price, it seems everyone is selling theirs with heaps of mods, whereas i prefer to buy one stock standard, drive it for a bit, then gradually modify it to my liking. thats why im keep to get one a little cheaper, if i can for-go any mods to pick one up at a good price. but yeh, im not ready to buy unfortunately, else i'd go have a look at this car and see if its worth the money. but thanks again, im dead keen to get rid of the n/a and get something a little faster!!!

Generally, you get what you payed for. No-one is stupid enough to sell their VL Turbo for under $5k, unless there's a few thing's that need signifant dollar's spent. Even the most pristine VL Calais Turbo for $15k will have one or two thing's that need attention. Budget around $6k+, if you wannna pick up a decent example, with no MAJOR work needed. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Sad fact Guy's VL's are getting older every year and decreasing in price as well, I remember when a standard calais turbo pulled $18,000-$20,000, Then over the years decreased to what they are going for today around $10,000-$12,000 for a excellent calais turbo example. Then the cars that require a fair bit of work can go for $2,000-$5,000. There are some bargains to be had if you are prepared to spend a little money and time on them.

I picked my VLT up for $2000, not going....according to the guy black box stuffed. Real problem/s both fuel pumps, CAS and wiring burnt out....fixed all them with brand new parts.(black box is fine) Turbo wasnt fitted, due to insurance reasons. Real reason turbo Fu*ked, found this site and brought a T3 for $300 in great condition.... Front bar was a group A, the guy said could be fixed (re fiber glass it) Front bar made of plastic, no fiberglasser would touch it, so replaced with all brand new front standard bar... Little bits and pieces here and there...now the car is great...but cost all up including buying price $5000.00 with front cooler fitted now...
