Hey , I bought my S2 87 VL commdore early march last year it was a pretty standard 5 speed exept for extractors and a 2 1/4 inch exhaust, lowerd with 15 inch mags. I loved it the way it was but, I wanted more power. The interior of my car was just plain and boring, as are all SL's. So I decided to spend a bit on something better, I rang up the wreckers and low and behold they were wrecking a S2 VL berlina, and said I could have everything that was inside the car for $400.. so now my car is outlayed with berlina interior and its alot better then the SL stuff. I scored another S2 VL N/A motor for $50 bucks, and I pulled the head off and got it ported , polished and shaved. I also got a reground cam made to suit and swapped the head from my engine with the new one. This gave me a fair bit more go, but it just wasnt enough!. With a turbo conversion being out of my budget, I thought about alot of things and come across a thread on these forums about a guy who had supercharged his VL with a toyota supercharger off the early MR2's. So, I sat down with my dad and we worked out that we could do it for less then $500, and so that was my next mod. I picked the blower up for $295 and we had all the welding and cutting equipment at my dads work to mount it. It took 2 weeks but it was well worth the wait. This car is far from finished, I plan on getting it resprayed but with 2 tone, with silver as the bottom half color. I am going to be getting a new EMS and alot of other goodies. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
