Neil's sweet looking VL Calais turbo
This is Neil's VL Calais turbo which, like a lot of other cars on the site, has come in for a lot of work over the past few years. One such area is the RB30ET. The head has been come in for some mild head work, and a mild cam has been installed. Below the head, a AVO copper head gasket sits atop the o-ringed block. ACL forged pistons have been installed for increased durability and reliability.
The turbo is a T3/T4 hybrid and runs a maximum of 17psi. Transfering this power to the ground is a modified Jatco with a 2500rpm stall, which then spins the power down to the factory LSD and out to the tyres. The exhausts exit through a full 3" mandrel bent exhaust, while a big custom cooler cools the air from the turbo before reaching the motor.
The rims are 17x8" VR Senator items riding on Super Low Pedders with Whiteline swaybars and Koni adjustable shocks
The interior is spotless factory series 2 velour. 3 gauges were previously mounted on the bonnet until the Newcastle Police decided they didn't like them, and put the car off the road (also saying the cooler was a pedestrian hazard... Neil has managed a low 13 sec pass in the past, and is hoping for 12s next time he heads out with the new stall and higher diff ratios.
