Liam's Series 2 VL Calais Turbo This is Liam's rather smick VL. It is a 1988 series 2 example, and is a factory 5 speed manual. The car was also equipped with a factory sunroof, making it a rather nice buy. Liam bought the car with a low 123,000 kms on it, and in the time he has owned it, it has only increased to 130k. The car has a factory LSD which makes traction a fair bit better over the single spinner (why weren't LSD's standard?!). The car also came running 9psi, with a hi flowed turbo. The exhaust had also been upgraded to a much more useful 3" system. Apart from these small modification, no others had been performed on the motor. The owner had also fitted a set of impressive Simmons FR18s to the car, but Liam couldn't afford the car with the rims, so the stock items were put back on the car when he bought it. Since taking hold of the calais, the wheels have been upgraded from their stock units to 17" VX SS, which look a treat. Another thing that he has done is to have the stock seats fully retrimmed in brand new grey leather, which I'm sure you all agree looks pretty mad, and also cost a fair bit. This job also included new carpets, mats and door trims. For a bit more aural entertainment, both the engine and stereo were upgraded. Starting with the engine, a BOV was added, so everyone around knew has a manual turbo. The stereo was changed to an Alpine deck, Alpine 10" sub, 6x5" round cones in the front and 6x9" Alpine splits in the rear. The system isn't fully finished yet as a stacker and another sub (and amps) are yet to be installed. The plates are also an interesting choice, until you realise that they are in fact your ordinary everyday number plates, that are on the majority of all cars. It turns out that the previous owner was a police officer, and since he could take what he wanted, he thought EZY200 looked cool, and thats how they came out. You can also download a video of EZY200 in action here Contact User aKTiVE or EZY`200 on #vlturbo (Austnet) UPDATE 30/04/03. As many of you in the Melbourne VL scene would already know, this car has come in for a whole lot of development in the past year, after the car required a rebuild. Here's a run down on what has been added to the car since we last took a look at it. Rebuilt bottom end 5 puck button clutch Porsche fuel pump Wade Cam Type III BOV Cold air intake K&N Filter Hi/Low boost switch, set to 10psi for low, 18psi for high Extra injector setup Garrett T3/T4 turbo with V-Band and 3" dump pipe Large front mount intercooler Oil catch can setup. As you can see, the car is still in the immaculate condition that you saw before. Thanks to Liam for the updated pics and info! This car has also been added to the High Performance Section.
