Last night (Wednesday) it was kinda cool in Adelaide, which after 40 degrees on Tuesday, was a pleasant change.
I decided to go for a hit of adrenelin and get some ice cream at the same time.
after warming up the car, I was off down Greenhill road, a few short sharp bursts, then pulled up at the lights waitin to turn left into Fullerton Road. Moments late the light turns green and I'm off like a shot, first, second, and briefly flat in third and I'm at a dollar twenty by the time you've read this sentence.
I coast up to the roundabout and make my way slowly to the Parade, i run a yellow turning right into the parade and give it another short blat in second up to about 80, then let it coast in third down to 50 and drive very sedately.
I get just past the Hoyts on the left heading up the hill when I'm scared to death by the sound and sight of the disco lights and siren behind me.
I pull in to a side street, park, and get out of my car to meet the officer, very nice guy BTW.
The conversation went something like
me: g'day
him: good evening, the reason I've pulled you over is beacause of your excessive speed
me: huh?
him: you passed me in the opposite direction on fullerton road doing at least 100kmh
me: you sure? i couldn't have been going that fast
him: well you grabbed my attention, and when I follwed you up the parade you gave it another hit and you would have been going at least 80
me: I don't think so, I had the music up, I dunno
him: can you pop the bonnet please?
I won't bore you with th rest, needless to say that he wasvery understanding and didn't know a whole lot about cars, so he called someone else in to have a look.
in total 4 police cars turned up.
second fellow said, well...it's an engine I know that.
In the end I was defected for not having a battery clamp, thos with Odessey Batterys will know that they do not have a lip at the bottom for a VL clamp to attach to.
I had already bought a battery clamp because I want to go drag racing and they will require one, so I got home last night fitted the clamp, went o the police station this morning, paid my $20.50, and had the defect removed just 12 and half hours after it was placed.
Sorry for the long post, a big hello to all at Adelaide Traffic! Nice guys and girls and to the staff at the Malvern community police station.
cheerz

very very lucky. I know what vic cops are like, I'm a Melbournian remember.
He did say that I was lucky that I wasn't going to court for dangerous driving. Meh.
I missed out on Cold Rock, which is the ice cream place I was heading for, so I ended up at the BP on West Terrace and got cookies and cream, it was nice.
I slept well.
$20 for a defect...Viva Le Adelaide Police!

11-12-03, 14:57 GMT+10#14 wow, really? Just rock up to the RTA or whatever it is here and change it over with proof of my address and ownership? That's far too easy.

11-12-03, 17:44 GMT+10#15 thats right, no RWC or anything, you can even pay online with your credit card
btw, Regency are known to be 'inconsistent' and 'idiots' with their decisions. Theres a 20 page post in the Adelaide section of SkylinesAustralia.com about them.

12-12-03, 11:00 GMT+10#18 so you're saying that I can into sturt police station and have my rego changed from NSW to SA no questions asked, just pay and go with new plates and sticker?
What about custom plates, although I like the idea of a sleeper, I really would like to get MOREPSI on a plate, seeing as though you can heve seven letters here. Is there anywhere on the net I can check?
