The race kit uses stronger bearings and pistons, that's all, trade price for a ACL racekit is something like $500 but I doubt you will get one for that price.
You should see the storeman handle ACL pistons and bearings, rough as guts dropped boxes are not uncommon causeing nicks and hairline cracks to start.
But it's convienent to buy a kit with everything you need in it.

ok, i finally spoke to the acl agent here in WA. he says that they only make one klit for the RB30. the kit has all the race stuff in it like stronger pistons and stronger bearings, but its just marked as the normal acl kit.
the beraings are 24% lead, 74% copper and 2% tin.
so it looks like i'll be leaving the std acl bearings in her!!

And a ACL "Flexigauge", plasticine clearance measureing tape thing.
And a grouse set of ACL race series stickers to stick on your car or whatever and conrod bolt boot covers so not to scratch the bores when installing pistons.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

18-12-03, 00:33 GMT+10#15 No I used to work for a company owned by ACL which supplys all ACL crap to auto shops, Bursons etc.
And I used to put the kits together, very boring job.
RB30et rebuild kits were not that popular sellers compared to the usual 308-202 Holden kits.
And the way it was handled in the warehouse if you saw how we treated it you would not be useing it.
I would never use it in my engines.

18-12-03, 08:54 GMT+10#16 Nissan bearings here.
I think they need to remove the RACE wording on the kit so no one gets any ideas.....

18-12-03, 09:31 GMT+10#17 jimmy, ACL do NOT make a "race" kit for the rb30et. the std kit comes with pistons, rings, bearings, and gaskets.
the std kit however comes with all the "race" parts like stronger pistons and copper lead bearings.
i presume that the std nissan bearings are a tri metal copper lead?? but bearings like Kings are only ali tin, as i have just found out from brett (700hp)

18-12-03, 12:30 GMT+10#19 i would price up nissan bearings and pistons. i'm not sure if nissan still sell the rb30et pistons or not?? i am running the acl kit (hoping for 350-400rwhp), but in hindsight i should have looked a little deeper into the bearing side of thingz. just make sure the bearings are copper lead. the std acl turbo pistons should be fine, BUT make sure you get it tuned right as detonation will destroy them very quickly
my acl kit cost me about $500 last year if i remember rightly, but i can find the receipt if anyone wants to know for sure.
