Was just reading the article on the VLT SKDMUP in Street Commodores and me thinks people are telling fibs or have been misquoted.
Don't get me wrong it is a very nice car but with comments like it was running 20 PSI with no cooler and now runs 30 PSI with a cooler it gets me thinking.
30 PSI???? With standard fuel system, standard auto and a stock standard engine??? I personally don't think this is possible.
Also it only made 120KW at the rear wheels on 20 PSI, don't standard VLT's make this kind of power (although it did say with a broken exhaust housing).
Also on another note it states it has an EMS computer fitted, do these computers still use the air flow meter, as the pic of the engine bay shows one.
As I stated before this is a very immaculate car but a bit more research should be done by the SC team before writing an article.
Anybody has any more thoughts?

i i thought it was weird too...
no afm is needed, when you have an aftermarket ecu,
shouldnt you be getting more than 120 kw with 20 psi...lol
i thought vlt came with 120 kw at the flywheel....so winding it up from 6 to 20...
and no fuel upgrade....jke....
are SC gonna keep doin this....
like quoting outrageous hp readings and that the stoock injectors are good for 250=300 kw at wheels...
or something like that in the last one...

I've said it previously, and I agree, they basically put anything in their, 'claiming' that's what the vehicle's owner's quoted.
Why not question his integrity? Is it really worth sucking up to feature car owner's, while meanwhile degrading your publication?

i read that too and I was like hang on a freakin minute, my vl pumps out 122kw at the rears on stock boost.
but 120kw with 20psi...dunno even with a cracked housing.

Last week i called Jason from SC about my car, he was telling me about some of the up and coming cars, and well lets just say the guy has no idea on cars, hes a pen pusher!!!!

A mate of a mate had his car in there a couple of months ago (red VX SS 'Caleys') and he said half the stuff that was written (by SC writers) was bull**** and only one or two of the quotes the owner actually said.

30-11-03, 04:34 GMT+10#10 I've never liked SC and Jason Gray's editorials are always the most bull****, stupid things out. Perhaps he has nice cars but I can never respect someone as myopic as that, how can you claim to be a knowldegable car enthusiast when you won't look at anything without a Commodore badge on it?
I remember one of his editorials was about how crap the new GTs are because Ford were incapable of making a 300kw engine... yeah, like a squillion dollar, 100 yr old multinational corporation like Ford couldn't pull an extra 10kw if they wanted to... Nearly every one I've read I've flicked through a handful of pages and laughed the whole way. Street Commodores is a pretty amature publication that is staying afloat only by riding the current wave of Commodore loving P-platers.

30-11-03, 08:24 GMT+10#11 Well said. I mean, it doesn't take a Brain Surgeon to work out that a 200000 kilometre VL Turbo engine running 20psi with NO cooler doesn't happen, I don't care how much you claim your car is a 'freak'...........

Thats my biggest problem with street commodores these days, all they seem to care about is late model HSV's , you get a vl turbo every now and then, but thats about it. i love reading OLD street commo's mags and commodore crazy etc, at least they had a bit of variety.
