hi guys yeh im just wondering for example how the turbosmart dual stage boost controller works. thanks

its just a 2 stage air bleed system. Bleeds air pressure from the wastegate actuator line so it takes more boost(pressure) to open the wastgate, the 2 stage uses a switch that operates a solenoid valve to swap between 2 different bleeders, therefore you get the hi/low boost when you hit the switch.

ahh sweet as. so when im cruising at about 100km/h in 3rd gear and the low boost setting is on 8psi, if i hit the little switch (my hi boost setting is on 16psi) will i go from 8 to 16 psi without changing into 4th gear?
please reply

it doesnt matter what gear youre in, if its set at 8, it will boost to 8, if hi boost is set at 16, it will boost to 16 when you hit the switch.
Is it worth getting one????? - up to you and your application, if you want/need to be able to select between 2 boost settings, then yes its a good option, but you could also use an in cab adjustable valve, you just wont know how much boost youre making untill you see the guage next time you are WOT, and may need to adjust it further to get your desired boost level or if not set up correctly you could overboost. I got a dual stage controller because i wanted to be able to set a low boost level and high boost level, normally id use low boost, but if say i wanted to overtake a few cars or if i was at a race track racing or something i would use the high boost setting, no stuffing round adjusting boost all the time. My new engine will probably have a turbosmart E-boost to control boost as it has so many more options and can be set up to operate the wastegate very accurately and things like wastegate creep can be dialed in / out. It can also be programmed for different boost levels in different gears. i.e. no point having 25psi in first as its just going to melt the tyres every time you touch the throttle so say you could have 8psi in first, 15psi in second and full boost in third etc etc etc.
Like i said it depends what you want and or need as to which type of boost controller is best for you.maybe a single stage bleed valve will do the job you want?

Dual stage would be better if other ppl drive your car. Don't want your girl friend or mates driving your car if they can hit maximum boost.
If your the only one that drives the car then a single stage one is fine.

yep i agree with you there.. adjustable boost with a hidden switch is very good for letting someone else borrow the car 'if that ever happend' also for when u have to drop ur car off at mechanics and ****... 'set low boost, and hide the switch'
p.s. most ppl dont let others drive their car... especially their mums or their g/f's !! most ppl with mad cars also like to be there when their car is being serviced etc, unless u can really trust who ur giving the keys to ur car to.
