As a lot of you old members would remember i had a site "commodoremods.com" that was about my turbo conversion of my VL N/A, unfortunately due to outside circumstances it all came to a halt and stayed like that for about a year & a half. Well im happy to announce that as of tommorow the vlt conversion begins, The fully worked rebuilt engine, MX7 box, new tailshaft and fully rebuilt four pinnion LSD diff with slotted discs will find a new home, also on the plate is a complete mandrel bent exhaust and and a VY 300mm front brake kit with slotted rotors. Before we start dyno run 137.1hp, totally stock n/a engine. I had to fit a new timing belt due to nicking the rebuilt engine's original one so i had to degree the camshaft in again. Like the custom made adjustable cam wheel? It isnt a great shot but here it is with the gearbox behind it, the magnacore leads and dissy cap are off it at the momment. Engine is in! So is the mx7 five speed gearbox It should be running tommorow hopefully.. Carcrazy. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Conversion cost me a fortune, engine is a n/a block but the rest is all turbo, it has: - Ported head - Nizmo cam - 400hp turbo - Performance valve springs - ACL Pistons - RB26DETT GTR oil pump - Balanced bottom end - & a ship load of new bits from Nissan & Holden Est cost $8000 Gearbox cost me $1000 bare, all the other bits inc performance clutch was about $1000 Diff has a VS HSV Maloo LSD, one new axle and its been fully rebuilt and tightened Est cost $1500 Mandrel bent straight off exhaust is likely to cost approx $1000 and is being done when the engine is in. Brake kit including the 300mm VY slotted rotors was $700 and is also going on this week too... Hyperflow cooler and autronic SMC come next year.. Carcrazy BTW, The only reason ive gone this extreme is because the car is in original and completely rust free condition.

might need to upsize to a 1inch master cylinder to power them big brakes of yours. and if your serious about stopping, consider booster reco too Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Thats were im one step ahead, booster is a vlt unit with a modified reaction pad and the master is a brand new 1" unit. The 28 spline rear end is also disc braked with slotted rotors too.

Just a quick update!! The engine started first pop, has excellent oil pressure and runs like a dream, the gearbox is in excellent shape and the car drives very well, the turbo isnt happy with the the std rear part of the exhaust from the n/a engine though, this will be changed in the next week.
