I just bought me a VLT 5spd totally stock. I dont care how fast it does the 1/4 mile in as long as i can flog tossers in their clubby, monaro, or SS. What mods would i need to do to achieve this? How much $$$ would these mods cost too? I just got 2 quotes on a 3in exhaust system from dump to tip (manderal bent) one place wanted $1300, the other $800.

3" exhaust + 10-12psi boost would see you eating most gen3's. Add a small cooler if you want to do it a bit more convincingly.

I understand i shouldnt boost higher than 10psi without a cooler. If i boosted to 9psi, would i get pinging?

each car is different dude.. best way to see wat ur own car is capable of is to do a bit of street tuning with the aid of a 13mm socket for some timing adjustment, and a screw driver for ur boost controller (unless u can just turn yours) on a nice day with good fuel, u mite be able to boost to 11psi without a cooler and not get any pinging, but on another day u mite ping on 9psi. it all depends on weather/fuel quality etc. Up the boost till u hear some pinging and then go back a little bit if u dont really know wat ur doin, dont **** around with **** hehe Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

use only 98ron fuel for a start, make sure you're timing is good, and you should be fine for 9psi, I actually got away with running 12psi on cold nights without a cooler

my mates stock VX ran a 13.7 ... i think you might need a bit more mods than exhaust and boost to 12psi ... even tho you sposily dont care how fast it is down the quarter, thats how most people do there upgrade packages or how much Kw the engine will produce. i'd say get about 6 grand together, and do mods like high flow, 3000 high stall, front mount, 3 inch exhaust, and perhaps injectors, with that you should run a 12 atleast

VY Clubsport R8 Manual - 13.5 quarter mile Auto - 13.6 quarter mile. Good luck beating that with a 3inch and 10-12 psi. also with that much psi on a stocky ur asking for trouble

stocko SS's are only sposed to be low-mid 14's arent they? If so, then those mods should see those times.

My old car was a VX Calais 5.7, with CAI, exhaust, and edit, it ran a series of 13.4-13.5's with the stock auto. I think you may need afew more mods than that, espeacially with they vy clubbies they make some power. To be confident in beating most stock gen 3's these days you would want to be running a mid 13, to beat most modded ones you would want a mid 12.

Didn't they up the power of the R8's to 285kw.

Yes. In the new Series II Clubsport R8. Wonder what they will do with the GTS? Hopefully the Gen4.

Gen4's are only New v6's, 3.6litre i think, ive heard abit more power too

I've heard that its 3.8Ltr but there are many different capacities that can be made with this new engine.

o well, people hear alot of stuff when theres rumours, we'll just have to see when the motor comes out in the new commodore i guess
