Hey guys looking for a new set of guages and just wondering which is best. Whats better to buy elctrical or mechanical gauges. Gauges im after are oil pressure and water temp ,coz i noticed there is a biggish price difference between the 2 styles.More to the point which setup is more accurate or is there no real difference between the 2?

Good question, but im not sure which one is better. If you want to monitor oil and fuelpressure, it might be better to go for electrical as you can run a sender unit, instead of an oil filled hose to your gauge in your dash/bonnet. It is also illegal to run mechanical gauges containing viscous fluids (fuel/oil) running in the cabin area or on the bonnet. If you have a stack and got fuel spraying everywhere from your gauge, it could start a big fire along with the posibility of the hose breaking/etc while driving and splashing your windscreen with oil thus causing an accident.

But that poses the question as to where the hell can you put them if they can't go on the bonnet or the cabin? doesn't leave anywhere. Electronic ones i'd think would be more accurate but then if i can be proven wrong, go for it.
