Okay guys, basically I got my mx7 in my na on thursday. I haven't driven my car for 3 months *licence* and basically I'd just like to know if anyones noticed any different ratio's or anything? To me, it seems as though the car has more acceleration in it. My first drive I hit the limiter in first and second - and I'm thinking its either the clutch is slipping a touch and it allowed the engine to rev so quick - The gearbox/diff combo has a different ratio that allows much more acceleration - Or.. I just haven't driven my car in that long and have forgotten how it runs. Any ideas.. Fling them all this way no matter how trivial you think it could be.

ok, well I got a mx7 in a na at the moment. Only time i hit the limiter is when i snapped the bush off the bottom of the selector a few times... anyway, with the 3.45 diff ratio i used to get to about 60km/h i think in first... when you say that it has more acceleration, do you mean compared to the auto? cause it hammers compares to the auto i used to have. with the 3.7's i have now, i still get to about 55km/h in first, it revs quicker, but i don't see why your hitting the limiter?? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

When I say more acceleration, comparing it to the n/a manual box. Do you think that your car is quicker then other manuals? I'm just trying to figure out whether its actually changed any ratio's etc.

the mx7 has lower ratio gears for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd so it will be a tad quicker

seems a waste of a strong gearbox in n/a vl...

I noticed a huge difference when i put the MX7 in. Even though the ratio's are close to the NA box, it makes a ****load of difference in acceleration, especially if you have the standard 3.45:1 diff in the back. But we all know the standard ratio's are way to tall for the 3L anyway. Mick Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

OK, hypothetical time. Scenario A: n/a with MX7 Scenario B: n/a with MF5 and 3.77 rear (from Skyline). Ignoring gearbox strength, which would give the better performance? Which would be more cost-effective? Which would you prefer (assuming the car is to stay n/a).

well I'd say Scenario B: for cost effectiveness.
