I'm just wondering how to get close to 100rwkw. I just want to hear from other ppl who have got their cars close to or over 100rwkw. Can you pls post what modds you have done and brand names of products and what type of gearbox your also using. Thanx.

I have 100Kw's at the wheels or 133.7hp with a totally stock vl manual. I beat a S2 VS Berlina too by 8kw's I ran 18% advanced timing and std unleaded, std exhaust, std everything actually. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

well i don't fit into close to 100 or over category. but i've got 87rwkw with a stock 88' sl. running the mf5 at the time, moving to the mx7 now with no engine upgrades coming for a while. but i was running a 2 and a half " straight through with extractors, timing i had no idea, was probably a touch retarded..

I've got a dyno proven 96rwkw. Estimating over 100rwkw now. 96rwkw was recorded with only 2 1/2" cat back exhaust, std headers, std airfilter, 25degrees advanced on the timing, air flow meter mesh removed and PULP. Now running over 30 dgrees timming, K&N air filter, CAI.

i got a litle over 100 rwkw, 102 i think. 2.5 inch Hi-Flow cat, 2.5 all the way to the back with 1 muffler, Pod with cold air pipe, slightly advanced timing, motor regularly serviced (i.e. good sparky's, leads, belts, etc..), tranny in good nick (motor's only done 160,000 K's, so i think that helps)

How much does a vl weigh? cos that will have effected the result?

I think minus opening the motor up and working it or fitting a twin cam head around 96 RWkW from a manual N/A VL sounds more believable than over 100. We spoke to a retired engine rebuilder who built performance motors and he said claims of over 100 RWKW from a standard VL are rubbish, something would have to be done to the motor,he said there a dynos who do try and sell themselves by being able to dyno tune a car to put out those power figures but these dyno operators are only telling these people what they want to hear by tweaking the calculations a little. I think someone would be doing pretty well to get more RWKW from an N/a VL than a VS ECOTEC V6 if both were manual or auto as you would have to be getting at least VLT power at the flywheel out to even match it at the rear wheels.

I am going to take my car for a dyno tune to get it right, but I don't want a power run cos it might go boom. What do you's think it might have at the wheels on 7psi?

fair enough.... ...but what does a VL weigh.. that is the question.... but you always gotta consider the freak motors that are out their that are pulling high figures from little work..... and yeah i agree with ya 100rwkw from an NA with no motor work is preety stiff, and my figure and most others is prob from a g-tech and as i said they arn't accurate (even less since we don't seem to know the weight) but give a good indication of what improvement if any our slight mods have made..

heheh I hope but I don't think so. I took her out b4 for some runs to see how she goes, anyway a gts-t skyline found me cruizn round, I lost by just under 2 car lenghts over the 1/4 and he was slighlty pulling away from me from a 70k's per hour start. Which aint bad I thourght!

Last time i weighed a stock VL it was 1207kilo's. yeh calais weigh's around 1300k, and 5ltr 1350. The dyno results varie per dyno......There are different standards belive it or not. i.e you can get dyno'd @ 90, and 105kw at another. I have a dyno guy in dandenong, sure he only charges me $30 for a quick run, but his dyno is harsh....we put a worked 308 on it and only made 125kw.

i thought the n/a's were all around the 95-98rwkW until someone on these forums was saying that he heard from a mechanic that they only put out 76rwkW, is this true? as i have no idea, but i really think there is some out there that r freaks as my first vl beat Vn's and some vr's and vs's. Also my mate had a N/A manual with just a reco'd head, uni filter, CAI, and 2.5" into 3" exhaust and his came out at 103.3rwkW so its pretty normal i think. yeah the base model vls are around the 1250 mark and calais around 1300 i think.
