Well, I know for my manifold I just got made they wanted $829. It had to have the more expensive black coating so I would say the pistons would need that as well due to the temp. So at a guess you would be looking at roughly the same as they charge by the area they have to paint.

it costs about $20 per piston, but depending on size. ceramic coating piston crowns keeps the heat away from the bottom end, and keeps the combustion gasses hot creating more pressure. idealy the whole combustion chamber area should be ceramic coated. my speedway motor is - pistons, valve faces, head. it also is supposed to make the engine run a bit cooler. it also can reduce/remove hot spots from the piston crown which may cause detonation ceramic coating the skirts reduces friction, and allows you to run alot tighter clearances as well, reducing blowby. but be careful when putting the pistons in as the ceramic can get scored, especially with the tighter piston to bore clearance. thats the theory, and alot of race teams use the technology. as i said, i use it in race race motor, and for the extra couple of hundred bucks, i did my vlt motor as well. the f***n around is about 10 days turn around in total, and that was from perth to east and back again. you may have to clean the ring lands out after tho, as sometines the ceramic can get in there. regards mark

wat exactly are u gettin done to the engine and who is building it ? if ur gunna be pushing big power and run high boost regularly... forged piston cant be beaten for its extra strength and more resistance to detonation than a standard piston. i think the goin rate for a set of forgeis for vl these days is about 1500 bucks, correct me if im wrong.

Im sure the standard pistons can take a pretty heavy slam if u keep the tuning alright all the time and avoid the pinging.. any reason why ur choosing to go copper head gasket ? Cause i'd be more inclined to use the standard nissan head gasket hey.. alot of people on here use it without fault and still run hard boost and dont have any problems.. where as from wat i've heard, copper head gaskets are a bit of a nuisance, and not really suited for a street car.

std pistons can take 20+ psi easy as, if you dont rattle them they wont break, simple.
