i just bought a vl and the paint is ****ed and i want to respray it my self in acrylic. i dont want to spend heaps on it i want a quick and simple method that a first timer can pull off. im thinking of paint stripping it with paint stripper then treating the rust with this rust treatment that i bought ( im not going to the extent of wire brushing it) ,bogging the dents and where needed sand that to a straight panel then undercoating it ( how many coats do you recommend for this) then wet/dry sanding it manually then painting. what do you think of this method and if i missed a step that i should do have you got any tips that could be helpful also im after a back bumper with moulds and a reinforcment bar for the front if you or any1 u no has either or both and is in melb can you give me a buzz on [phone removed] my names stephen and we ll work something out. thanks heaps

Do a search mate, this has been spoken about VERY recently. Painting your car yourself in acrylic is a piece of piss. Don't use paint stripper, sand the car back, if you're using acrylic, you have no need to go to bare metal, just make sure it's smooth. Use your primer, sand it back, then maybe, depending on the finish, use a spray putty then once that's rubbed back, do your base then clear coats.
