They actually run a garrett gt30/35/40 (one of these, not a hybrid of all 3 which is rated fairly high for a factory production vechile

Yep, Garret GT40 BB turbo set at only 6psi. PLENTY of room for improvement, with Nizpro and Redcliffe Dyno already making over 400rwkw with these engines.

WHT11 is the man, I'm 100% that they run a GT35/40 too.

07-10-03, 09:14 GMT+10#10 i think you will find they run the GT series center with diffrent housings and wheels,
thats what i understand
i cant see them comeing out standard with a gt35/45 turbo thats a huge puppy,
*edit*
do these run an external gate ??? as gt30 and over all require an external gate,
know what size they are if they do??
i cant wait till they are a few years old and the 19-22 yr olds start punishing them on the street

08-10-03, 02:42 GMT+10#13 From an autospeed interview article with a ford engineer:
How many different turbochargers were tested?
- "We started off with a recommendation from Garrett and that turned out to be a little bit wrong - we had a bit too much low-speed performance and not enough top-end. They did a minor tweak to what they had given us and that got us where we wanted to be - it was only two turbos we tried in the end. It's a roller-bearing GT40 we're using."
You can get an array of housings for any turbos, ive seen internally wastegated T04 turbos with a t03 flange.
If an internal wastegate was required, garrett would have adapted or designed a housing, as the turbo will be OEM on the car, hence its a big contract to loose based on a minor change.

Maybe a GT25 is too small for an RB30DE?

14-10-03, 18:01 GMT+10#16 They're complaining about a lack of top end performance,I think it is to do with the fact all of the Ford sixes to date aren't a top end motor (minus the 3.6 litre motor fitted to the XY's,etc).
I have had my 3 litre N/A VL 5 speed being quicker than a 4 litre in the mid to top end range, one was a BA ute, seems to be when they try and overtake and I back it down to 3rd gear and floor it that it sits around 4000 RPM and the Ford can't pass me.
If they were more like Nissan or Toyota and made their motors more race bred instead of old school (bottom end design) they wouldn't complain about a lack of top end grunt.

You are clearly an idiot.

15-10-03, 17:11 GMT+10#19 I dont know what their bore and stroke is, nor do I care, what I do care about is rediculous statements.
"MY 3 litre N/A VL 5 speed is quicker than a 'new' 4 litre BA ute"
Lets see, 114kw vs 183kws
and don't give me this crap about a weight difference, a BA would beat it, it has more torque, and more power, newer technology.
Come on fellas, I love VL's too, but I don't think you realise how well these fords go.
