Hey, its me again... I've got a problem with the Fan Switch on the VL thats been bugging me since I got it. The problem is that it won't work on Speeds 1 and 2, is this a problem with the actual Switch or is the problem somewhere else? I think this is a common problem so someone should know... Any help is appreciated Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Im sure this all sounds familiar, ohh its been covered before. Infact it was you who asked! http://www.ozperformance.net/forum/s...ght=heater+fan (http://www.ozperformance.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1043&highlight=heater+fan) quote from turboluke ---------------------- as for your fan not working on 1 & 2, there is a little orange fan speed resistor that is behind the glovebox, this will most likely need to be replaced, it is very hard to get at unless you remove the lower section of the dash, it is attached into the blower fan plumbing. -------------------------------------------------- Cant verify the info is correct though ive never looked into this before. Just thought it was all fimiliar Mick Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Damn, that was like my first Post! How did you find that? I was sure I'd asked it before but I couldn't find anything with the search function, I thought stuff that old might have been deleted. Anyway, I'll have to look into it, I've got a new Fan Switch but I'll try and find the Resistor as well. Thanx for help guys... Oh and CoastVL, I never said you were supposed to know... I have problem where Air con works as it has been re-gassed and I can hear it clicking with relays and crap and it is cold but the selector regardless put it on 2-3-4 doesnt blow air in would it be the resistor in the pic above on this topic or the fan blower motor? Help Plsss!!! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

the switches often lose a speed or two or even more and all the ones i've come accross have worked again after a clean up inside.. but they usually fail again a year later.

Mine ended up being the Resistor Array, as pictured earlier. Even though Speed 1 and 2 were blown, 3 and 4 still worked. So I replaced it, its a bit hard to get to, but its just 2 Screws on the outside of the Fan Unit, just in front of the Air Intake where the shutter is. You have to take the Glovebox part of the dash out first though. By Air Intake I mean the one under the Glovebox for the Heater/Air Con NOT the Engine Air Intake... Mine was the Blower resistor, however i decided to replace the @-2-3-4 switch anyway cos i knew it was old and was only going to give me more headaches. Sit down $100 for the switch

If you take off the Glovebox part of the Dash you will be able to access the Resistor Array easily, its just 1 Plug and 2 Screws, its Orange in colour...
