Guys I Want To Build A Bigger Engine, Does Any One Have Any Ideas..... Go The Full Rb30 Or Rb30 + Rb25 Twin Cam Head.... Which Is A Better Option.... Can Any One Put A Piece By Pice List Of What I Will Need For Building Sumthing Of These Sorts... Currently I Have The Rb30 In My Vl-turbo, But Want Sumthing Faster. Thanks Alot

how much power are you chasing? going the twin cam head is good but for the cost, you cab tick something like an aftermarket ecu off the list. Theres 2 ways people go about making power out of rb30's i have noticed. They do it the so called right way, and then the not so good way but it still works. The right way would be upgrading your injectors, running an aftermarket ECU, and a good fuel system. You dont actually need to have a $5000 motor rebuilt from ground up, if its tuned right you on the right track. The other way is the use of extra injectors, and running it off a hob switch, and controlling air to fuel via a safc or something of the sorts. This way is also fine, but tuning it for higher power outputs may run into trouble, as you are not going to have as many options to get the maximum power out of your setup. Both ways are perfectly fine, the fuel and management system is what is really important in building a motor with power. Ther are many other things to consider, but thats probly up there with being the most costly. Your choice of turbo, will effec what option you take as far as fuel and management. if you go a hi flow t3/t4, you could get away with the extra injectors, but if you choose something like a gt35r i guess running a big injectors, and a new ecu, is going to be on the cards. Just generalising a bit, doesn't really matter how you go about making your power, but to get it is a realiable as possible theres things you can do....

Cool. Thanks Steve, At The Moment, Thinking Of A Freshen Up With The Engine, Big Cooler, And A T3/4 Hiflowed? Should Get Some Decent Power Out Of That Hey?

you will make more power, but you will run ito troubles with injectors.... they max out at around 180rwkw. SO you can take the full aftermarket ecu with big injectors, or put in a couple of extra injectors, and take that approach. either way, a new fuel pump might be on the cards if you take any of the options. last thing you want is the motor to go bang. i am sure a there are more people in the know, of how the rb30's respond with what mods, maybe have a look through calaisturbo.com at the cars there, see what power they are making and with what mods.... but injectors will be holding you back once you go a t3/t4 and front mount.

So You Reckon Injectors Will Have To Be Upsized?

well bigger injectors or extra injectors.... if you go bigger injectors you will ned an aftermarket ecu to run them. You see theres a catch to everything....

with out blowing a massive budget..... the usual mods, are normally more than enough to keep most people happy. - 3 inch exhaust turbo back (keep stock dump pipe cause you might want to upgrade the turbo, and teh dump pipe might need to be modded). - front mount intercooler - adjustable boost controller (then see how you like the car) Once you have done that way up from there what you want.... You probly be up around 160 rwkw on 10 psi.... The next step xan be the most costly. Upgrade the turbo budget for say $1500, then your fuel pump, and do something with the injectors, or ecu. You should be able to get away with a t3/t4 with stock injectors on low boost, but once the boost gets wound up, they will be maxed out. if your not happy with all that then i guess you chose the wrong turbo? a gt30 or something could be a bettert option.. before youstart doing anything thought, figure out a definate power figure you want. or 1/4 mile time. performance places can work to that. oh and get a minispool they rock.

Its an inline 4ltr 6cyl (petrol of course) and put that into a VL with a turbo and the works. I bet you could get some stump pulling power outta that engine. Or if I owned a Supra and wanted something different than the 2JZ, the Toyota Prado comes with a 3.4ltr 6cyl that can rev round to 7000rom in stock form. Nice. But I think you're questions have already been answered so I'll go back to my corner and dream. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Yeah the 3L supra engine (1997+) with a GT30 is suposedly better then the RB30ET with a GT30, newer technology though so it comes at a price.

hell yeah, the 2jz's are an awesom engine, infact, even the 1jz's are pritty dam hardcore for the money they are, WAY better engine then your typical Rb25det and i personaly think the 2jz's are a heeps better engine then the 26dett Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

well if u do a search thru zoom magazine, the 1JZ is actually on par wit the RB26 performance wise the 2JZ is definitly the better engine out of the whole lot but it isnt cheap to fit it into a VL, enquired thru a mate bout dropin a 2JZ into my car n makin a belhousing for the tranny i was goin to use n sump mods ect n also bigger turbo n custom manifold ect n he siad he could build me a 9second VL for the same price wit the RB30... the 1jz isnt goin to hav as good a boost response as the rb30 for me it would b building a 3lt bottom end n puttin teh twin cam head uptop, go custom plenum n manifold wit bigger turbos ect n u will hav very decent power altho u r goin to need CDI to run it as it runs 6individual coils n the power will most likely exceed wot the stock coils can handle ive decided to go twin cam head n shouls b pullin some very decent power figures n times but i need to sell my RB30 topend...

Well I guess if you built a RB30 with the RB26 Neo head and complimeted it with a GT30, it would go just about as hard. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
