Title says it all, Age article scan of where all the perminant speed cameras are, with more to come.
Looks like its all over the East and South East suburbs for now, about 100 more comming to an intersection near you.
As far as i know, they operate 24/7 and do you for speeding even if its a green light. Its the new cameras on the commercial. Remember, 3kms over and your ****ed.

Tell me about it, the other day I was done at a intersection. I was caught doing 69/60 and running a red light at 1am. No other cars on the road. I can't afford to be caught again, my record is shocking.

i think redlight runners deserve the fine, so i cant say i sympathyse, sorry.
Regardless of the amount of cars on the road, traffic lights are there for a reason.

lol I hear what ur saying, I was caught doing 69 because I speed up to go through a orange light. I'm threw the intersection in the pic, and the lights are red in the picture so they are going to do me for that aswell even though the camera only took a pic of me because i was speeding.
P.S. I didn't ask for anyone to feel sorry for me.
Take it easy.

I think its stupid. Wot happends if a trucks up ur ass and u cant stop in time? Do u A. Speed and get a fine for red light and speed? Or B. try stop and hope not to get crushed?
I think 90% ppl would choose B.!!!! I would

Interesting, LUVNIT, i thought that you would have to have two photos taken 1 for redlight and 1 for speeding to be done.
Whats the rule for the redlight, is it classified as a fine if you cross red at the stopping point, or amber -> red before the end of the intersection.
Maybe you can contest against the fine, since they have only 1 photo and one peice of evidence, which explictly says SPEEDING FINE, not redlight.

Red light cameras flash 0.03 seconds after it goes red and u cross the 2nd line.
Btw it also illegal to go thru an amber light if the police judge that u were in safe braking distance.
I have heard that happening to 2 people, one begin a tafe teacher so it wasn't a lie.
Btw... this is in nsw.

17-09-03, 18:19 GMT+10#10 Yeah darkstar ,
I've looked into it. Apparently I have a 50/50 chance in court. They'll bring up my record and it's not pretty. So I just paid it.
But you are right, it will take 2 pictures if you are speeding and if the light is red.
I don't plan on getting any more fines for a long time.
Yes they do save lives, BUT. They also raise a lot of money for the goverment.

17-09-03, 19:07 GMT+10#11 Speed camera's dont save lives at all. The road toll gets higher each year even though they mass produce these little revenue earners.

17-09-03, 19:14 GMT+10#12 They do slow people down because camera's are f#cking everywhere these days. You never know what corner they will be around next, I know personally it has slowed me down. So has that new TV ad compain, with the 2 cars, 1 doing 60 the other 65. It's a good ad and does show what a huge difference going over the speed limit by a few k's can make.

17-09-03, 20:09 GMT+10#13 I dont know where you live LUVNIT but speed camera's dont do a thing in QLD as far as slowing people down. People (for the most part) know where they are even though they are mobile, see the camera's. Slow down for 400m then continue on their way doing anywhere frm 5-40km's over the posted limit. They arent a deterrent. Laser traps are more of a deterrent IMHO.
There is an ad here in QLD about breaking distances from 3 different speeds. All that add does is prove that the muppet driving that car doesnt have too much control over their vehicle. It takes that car way too long to pull up from those speeds. But ordinary people probably dont realise this and swallow everything the Govt. rams down their throat.
Im not condongin speeding with the above comments, I am questioning the sudden integrity the Govt. seems to have picked up in the form of this new style of advertising.
Not attacking you either LUVNIT, just speaking my mind on the topic. I see what you are saying. I jsut dont agree on certan topics.

17-09-03, 20:21 GMT+10#14 I got done doing 135 on the open road and was booked on 124 (nice cop, here's a donut). It slowed me down for sure. But i don't think speeding is dangerous, i think the reason that the road toll is dropping just might be because people are driving newer and safer cars? (better brakes, tires, ABS, airbags....)

17-09-03, 21:40 GMT+10#15 I find speed camera's dangerous at times, because you have idiots jumping on the brakes the second they see a speed camera, causing the traffic to back up for no reason at all.
Also with all these people worrying about getting booked, you get ****heads doing 20+ under the limit which turns out pretty dangerous too caus your closing distances etc are so much quicker.
Also, I hate getting dirty looks all the time just because I drive a commodore and choose to do the speed limit, not piss around like others.
End Rant

17-09-03, 23:14 GMT+10#16 Yeah, my mates been done for going through an amber light, just got a small fine as far as I can remember.
Red lights, along with all traffic signs are there for a reason. And, If I had a truck up my ass I know that I'd stop. If the lights orange and the trucky hasn't started slowing down.. Whereas if you got done for going through an orange light/ red light, the cop isn't exactly going to let you off because a truck was up your ass.
Theres been many occassions though where I've been on my way to work/coming home from work, and had to put the brakes on and stop in the middle of a roundabout, because up ahead there was a stupid RBT at 8 in the morning on a tuesday. Where do they get the idea that people drink hard on Monday nights? Also, the same kind of thing, they let about 2 cars go, see me.. Pull me in let another few go..
It pisses me off a touch, but what can ya do..

18-09-03, 06:07 GMT+10#17 Well, I can only speak for myself, but I'm always on the lookout for speed cameras on my way to work, because I know they always put em in the same spots.
I'm always on the lookout. I can't see how this makes the roads safer for me or anyone around me.
and don't say "Watch your speedo instead" because it doesn't work , ok?

18-09-03, 11:16 GMT+10#18 I agree with people just slowing down for the camera and then speeding up once again once there past it. I can't say i do that, just got my P's and am being really ****ing cautious around Wollongong cause of all the coppers i see every day.
That add on TV with the two falcons and one does 65km/h and the other 60km/h. It is true but is a bit exageratted in how long it takes for the two cars to stop. Motor Magezine got a lot of questions about whether the add was true or not and went to the track to try it out. They found that they could break in a lot less time and were able to stop in the wet in the same distance as in the add which is in the dry. Addmittely the motor drivers were expecting to have to break and were using a GTO for the test. I think the add is really good shows u the difference in just 5km/h.

18-09-03, 12:05 GMT+10#19 each individual person is going to take a shorter or longer time to brake, that on top of the cars braking ability. I watch the ads and have a bit of a laugh at their efforts, but I guess its just how an average person would brake in an emergency.

18-09-03, 12:12 GMT+10#20 i am all for safe driving - i never drive at dangerous speeds or do donuts (ever since i wrapped my brand new car around a tree 1 month after i turned 18), but just a few interesting facts:
97% of road deaths occur in the country
97% of speed cameras are in the city
i got caught going 56 in a 50 zone at 10:30 at night!!!! wtf... it was the only point i've ever lost - how ridiculous....
