Hi guys i am just wondering I have the stock exaust vlct manifold heat shield on.. Do u guys think that it heats up the turbo more.. i am running a cooler and zorsrt and cold air box. I thought the other day that it holds the hot air in and heats the manifold up and turbo up more what do u guys think take it off or leave it on Thanks in advance

ok well... i see ur point about it keeping the heat within the manifold and turbo.. which could be of concern depending on wat type of setup u have. but also if ur not using a custom plenum.. id want to keep the heat shield there to stop the heat affecting the cooler piping which more than likely passes over the top of the manifold somewhere.. remember u wanna keep ur cooler piping away from heat sources.. and as cool as possible. my 2c Ollie

Keep it on. Although I had mine HPC coated as exchaser said for the intercooler piping. Besides, the amount of heat the shield keeps in is only a very very small fraction that the turbo and manifold generate. Oh, and you think that the VL's fuse box is prone to melting........ Take it off and see how long it lasts.......

dude if people arent telling u to take it off.. then its probably best to keep it on !! haha i dont see any reason why u would want to take it off... the manifold is ugly as ****.. but hey if u wanna take it off.. i'll have it Ollie Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I think you need a strong lesson on how to PROPERLY structure sentences with appropiate grammar. You add value to your question, and hence an increased quality in your results, by taking in proper english. As exchaser said, if people are telling you to keep it on, then i suggest you do so. Its there for a reason, and since all cars are made on a budget, i dont think they would have gone into the extra manufacturing on both the cast manifold and heat shields if they offered no benefits. In the end its your car, you do what you like, as it makes no difference to us. I have ran with it off before and i noticed an increase in underbonnet temperatures as well as heating up of the cooler piping. Might look cool, but its going backwards in performance and reliability. edited for Bishop

Pfft, exhaust wrap looks like crap compared to HPC. It also reduces the life of the metal it is wrapped around.

Keep the heat in. The more heat you keep in, the more power you make. The more you lose, the more power you lose. Law of conservation of energy. This is why people wrap and coat their manifolds. It makes the turbo spin harder. Shields also do a very good job of keeping the intake piping cooler.
