Just want to know do all commodore rims fit on to all commodores? I have a VK and i want to get 17" rims but i heard rumours of problems with the rims of cars like VP onwards due to IRS or something? can someone please clear this up because i dont want to fork out for some mags off say, a VT and then find out the dont fit right. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

hey cheif, the only problem i've come across is that the centre cap doesn't fit over the grease caps on the front wheels... so you can paint them silver or polish them to match the rims, ive seen all kinds of newer commodore rims on vk/vls... theres a vk pic i have seen with vy ss wheels... so yeh i don't think this irs stuff has anything to do with it... with 17s or bigger though you might need to get the guards rolled etc.. so you don't get to much scrubbing if your car is low cheers Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

The stud pattern on all commodores is the same so a VB wheel can be put onto a VY if you really wanted to do it. BMW stud patterns are also the same as Commodores and I think (dont quote me though) that Corvette's and Commo's are the same too.

"though you might need to get the guards rolled" What sort of dollars would i be looking at if that was the case? And i know someone that put some wheels off a transam onto his VB commodore. They bolted staright up.

i paid 50 bucks to get my guards rolled. i took it to a tyre/wheel shop. also, i saw a BMW with VR clubsport wheels on it, looked weird.

I may be wrong but i think you only have to worry if you have a VP cause the IRS setup was wrong and required different mags or something

isnt there something about walky wheels not fitting over drum brake rear ends???

If you're wanting to put newer model mags onto your vl/vk, what would be better off doing is looking for something from the vt/vx/vy range as the offset is perfect - no scrubbing when lowered and rolled guards. If you were to get something off a vr/vs, you will run into problems. There is no problem putting walky rims over drum brakes, you have issues though if you were to try and put 14" over the disc brakes. Another model that you can look at getting mags from are the Jaguars. My 17" chrome VT GTS wheels (same style as photo above) fit my dad's jag nicely Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Some of the earlier commodores that had the 4 cylinder engine had a different stud patern. I think it was the same as the old sunbirds or other toranas.

yes the offset if different between vn/vp, vr/vs, and vt/vx/vy. Look for the vt/vx/vy 17", 18" etc for lowered vls, the offset is right so there is no scrub
