What is the difference between an electronic and mechanical guage. I want to buy a boost guage and the Autometer electronic boost guage costs more than twice as much as a mechanical boost guage.

Mechanical run by the little hose that feeds the gauge. I suppose the electronic would go by a sensor. I'd just get the cheaper mechanical style. The only electronic gauge Id get would be the fuel pressure.

Elec gauges will always cost more than you think as they dont come with the sensor to run them, there optional

Thanks for the help. I'll be getting an autometer mechanical boost guage now. I don't know what type yet, I'm thinking Lunar. Does the mechanical guage contain everything to hook it up.
