I've had my VL for three weeks, and someone's already had a go at it. Installed an alarm and immobiliser a week ago, and today some clown who probably had a VL key (you can open my door with pretty much anything, i can do it with a spoon handle) opened the door. Well, the central locking is hooked up to the alarm and he obviously couldn't turn it off as the alarm went off (according to witnesses) for about half an hour before the battery died. Tried to disconnect or reset the alarm but it didn't work and he shat himself and ran off, leaving the alarm going. Came back from uni and the battery is dead, but no head unit, speakers, amp or sub missing. In fact, nothing whatsoever is gone from the car. Lucky, as the stereo gear is worth a hell of a lot. All Earthquake gear from the U.S. Thank god for the alarm eh? It pays to be cautious i guess.

yeah well the "witness" was an old bloke who worked in a salvation army store nearby. all he heard was the alarm going off for half an hour then dying, he didn't see the theif at all. bummer, it would have been good to do some Petros-style bat work on the mofo.

Lucky the alarm saved the car. The exact same thing happened to mine but now I got Solex locks...........They only cost $110 for a set of three.

Yeah, they will do anything to get in, but it might deter some inexperienced theives! On my 2nd VL i'm having no door locks at all. Just get in via remote.

(99% sure) I'll just keep a spare remote battery in my wallet!.....I heard the same thing regarding passing a rwc. Just depends where u get your RWC done I suppose. I know of two cars with no doorlocks and they both passed an RWC with no hassles. Luck Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

what if you are in some far away place for some reason and your keys get stolen/lost along with the remote? battery in your wallet will be a bit useless then...

UPDATE: the car now has solex locks. i got these from Repco for 80 bucks (set of three, two front doors and the boot) and not only do they work well at deterring thieves, they look sweet on the car too! only about 2 hours work to get the *******s in, but it's worth the money and effort. also got my windows tinted.....illegally black. i'm serious you can hardly see inside the damn car now even in broad daylight. looks sweet as well. KingyVL i am in the same position as you, keyless entry so i never use the locks anyway!
