Hey guys jus lookin to see what u guys think. I have a N/A Auto (project car) and i was lookin for either another auto (as mine is shot to ****) or manual .. ive been able to find a cheap VLT manual complete for conversion, but i dunno what the difference is. Can you put a VLT manual in a N/A and will it go jus as good as a normal Manual. I hope to convert mine anyway so im jus tryin to save myself a headache in the long run. Oppinions are welcome and any other comments .. jus dun bag me i realise i know **** when it comes to this so go easy. Giasas

There's no problem in putting the MX7 5 speed behind the RB30E. Don't be disillusioned in thinking that the car will go quicker or anything like that but. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Well, the conversion cost me 2K with a spankers heavy duty clutch, and that's someone else putting it in... and it is SO SO SO much more fun to drive. It even sounds better 8) I would say yeah, its worth it!!! I would really get the mx7 box though.. I think that they are worth the extra money ove the me5. Only problem now is though i need LSD cause I get too much well spin trying to launch...

Well, when you have a VL with boost, it is easier to break traction rather than without boost, and with a one legger diff you have to give it less juice unless you want to wear ya drivers side tyre out all the time. A LSD will give you better traction at both sides of the motor vehicle..... You already knew all that though...didn't you?.....But yet you still asked....

yeah! nah like ive said before i hardly know anything about the mechanics side of things. I gathered that LSD would be better for the same reason as wat u jus mentioned, though i was interested to know for sure. i mean there couldve been another ewxplaination i simply jus didn't know.

Im also planning this conversion. Could someone please list everything that is required for the conversion ontop of just the gearbox. Cheers

the box, flywheel, clutch plate, pressure plate, tailshaft, clutch pedal, gear stick, clutch master cylinder, spigot bush, gearstick surround and boot, manual gearbox mount, starter motor, speedo cable, manual floor pan, and all importantly.....gear oil and clutch fluid....some people also believe you need a manual computer....it is not a stress point.....

also the MX7 gearbox mount has spacers between it and the floorpan, you will need them. There is a rubber boot over where the shifter fits in the tranny, another between the floor plate and shifter , then also the one in the centre console. Im doing this swap too as my auto is dead and i have the rebuilt MX7 waiting round for me to finish my new motor, so i will drop it in for the time being.

for anyone that is thinkin about the conversion, i would recommend it. spd drives much better and saves heaps on fuel. I personally wouldnt put an MX7 behind a NA though. There really is no need. They are heavier, have closer gear ratios, harder to install, require a more expensive clutch and have strength that u dont need behind a NA (that has no major mod). Irrespective, if anyone does choose to go ahead with the conversion, i have some parts lying around that im lookin to unload, including and MF5 box, master cylinder and lots of other little bits here and there.
