Howdy, one of my mates is thinking of goin my88vl styles ops: and buying a VN Lexcen ($3800 ex condition). wat are the differences between the Toyota and the Commodore (mechanically mainly)
Steven.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
Mechanically.... nothing is different.
Possibly the indicators are different, in that Commodores have the parkers as part of the headlight, and the bit on the side is the indicator, whereas the lexcen has the indicators in the bumper and the side bits of the headlight are the parkers.
On VR/VS versions the 1/4 panels up the front are different but i'm pretty sure VN/VP kept it the same there.
The rear is identical for lights and so on.
Also the grill is different but you can pick up a VN Commodore front bar cheap, and will fit really easily.
Definately the same mechanically though.
Stuff like wheel caps, and badges come off easily enough but the steering wheel isn't as easy to change in the VN lexcens. Just grab a holden one and swap it over, cheap as from a wrecker.
If he's a member of this site though, i strongly recomend he doesn't tell anyone its a Toyota.
