Just posing the question, has anyone ever been lucky enough to have got their stolen VL Turbo back at all? I know it doesn't happen, but someone should at least have a story to tell wink

Mine was a stolen - recovered, when I bought it. The interior , suspension, wheels, turbo and stero was stripped out of it. All aftermarket gear, but he still had the original equipment. He was pretty honest about what happened (I checked it out for my own peace of mind) When It was recovered it was 'Found' in somebodys home garage, but the Cops told him that they couldn't prove who stole the car  For the time I got the car cheap (for a Calais turbo with manual trans), but the seller was pretty upset about the whole process. I often think that he would of prefered to never get it back, that get it back the way it was. He was happy that I was going to rebuild it, rather than wreck it.

I had the same experience as COLDVL, mine was bought as a stolen and recovered car, they just drove it round the block, hit a taxi (as you do) cause they couldnt drive and ran. The only stuff that got stripped happened in the impound yard, where someone decided they liked the 17's. Jake Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

It seem's as though every 8 out of 10 VL Turbo's are stolen/recovery job's nowday's.

I'd say your right on the money INFLYT, Im sure at least 6 out of 10 VL Turbos have been stolen or attempted to be at some point in their lives. If we factored in those that have been written off we'd have 8 out of 10 no dramas. Jake

an after thought........ Maybe someone should devote a page on the net, that we can use as a VL Turbo owners register, that will give us some idea of whats left, well whats left that people with internet access have. Someone setup this page it would be awesome as they are only getting rarer. Jake

My friends mum had a manual vl turbo (like 130km's and 2owner) I had been stolen like 4 times but always found within 50m's of where it was stolen from, fuel cut. But it was stolen around 2 years ago from bankstown trotting club car park, and never seen of again. When it got stolen the only ones to blame are lebbo security guards with mobile phones who want spotters fees. :?

It's a tough call, but when you want one, a little thing like no insurance won't stop you.

I got my calais turbo manual back after is was stolen on a sat night from my girlfriends house about 2 years ago..... was very lucky indeed.. had a $3500 stereo system which wasn't insured and they didn't take anything!! They even changed CD's... They left the windows down and it rained, and they left syringes in ther car aswell.... They also found a address book, but cops didn't care..... Apart from a busted ignition, no damage at all... Dunno how they got past my alarm though, I didn't hear a thing... I was very very lucky... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

A few years ago I had a car recovered with the same thing, syringes, stolen stereos and tools in the boot, address book, receipts from servos. The cops didnt do a thing but I got called to the local copshop to have a look at a blown up speeding camera pic and recognised the guy, didnt tell them I did. Everything was sorted out quite nicely though, I got my car resprayed and and my missing stereo components replaced, he even detailed my car before we went down and picked it up. Its amazing what gets done when you pay some rather large friends that ride Harleys to drop the recovered car off on the theifs lawn and have a few quiet words. 2 weeks later I got the car back better than what it was when it got stolen. Some stories have a happy ending   Jake
