Hi, my brother and i are going to turbo our VLs and are wanting management. What management would suit a mild power outputs as we are not looking for huge power. Some that plugs in would be great . Any help would be appreciated. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Depends on your budget really. For a plug in module Id reccommend a Link. Plugs straight in to where the old computer lives. Ive never had one but Ive heard enough good stories from others that would sway me in that direction. Dont quote me but I think they are around the $1500 mark. A few guys on here have them and reccommend them so Im sure they will filter in to the thread soon and be able to give you their wisdom. Cheers.

MOTEC - M4 - $2200; M48 - $2800; M800 - $3200 (These are about right) Just basic prices, costs more for different options. These are new prices also. Autronic - SMC - $1600; SM2 - $2200. All the VL boys like the autronic. But I have never heard a bad thing about either computer.

autronic smc is what im about to put in , as said above the computer itself is about 16-1700 , but u need the loom with associated vl plugs on it , u need a dizzy disc etc too , theres a few hundred more so budget for about 2k , plus fitting and tuning. if u are on a budget go for a link , even a microtec , but if u want all out reliability and more specific tuning qualities go for an autronic , motec too dear for anything u would need. dont even think once about motec.

How much power are you looking for mate? I think affects heavily your choice of ECU.

Well the power output im looking for is around 250rwkw. I dont really want to go any higher due to money problems. And my budget would be between $1200-$1800. I want to cant the right one first time to save hassles and money.

I have a Link and I'm happy with it. You just plug it in to your old computer box, the air flow connection goes to a map sensor Link provide. Too easy!

could someone explain the link and the better after market management systems? I'm guessing that the motec's, etc, are better for heavily modified engines, and the link better for mild engines, right?

yes the link would be perfect for a non wild application ,it is simply plug into the original loom , replace the afm with a map and ur done, tune away , though the thing is , it doesn t have anywhere near the amount of tuning poosibilities as a autronic/motec , but for ur application it would be a good option.

If it can, you've saved yourself $2k plus to spend on the rest of the car. Anyone else know what the limits of the stock ecu are? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
