Hey guys hope all is well. I have an interesting problem. My g/f has a pioneer h/unit that is playing up. The sound from the unit is cutting out. The unit itself isn't turning off though. I just wanted some info before i start looking for the problem because i don't want to be searching for the wrong thing aimlessly. Thanks heaps....

depends if its fully cutting in and out suddenly or fading in and out. my old man had that problem, it was cutting in and out suddenly and wen we took the hed unit out it was a simple as a loose speaker wire. but if its fairly new and maybe under warranty then id b a lazy **** and get someone else to fix it :P . well thats all i could think of, good luk jezz

check all of the wires, even re-wire it again if nee be, once the wiring is eliminated it can only be internal, it is a sure plan to keep you from looking like a fool Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Just make sure that none of the speaker wires or terminals are not touching, either themselves, or the body work. That will cause it to do that

yep exactly what jet-6 said... i had a pioneer head unit... what they actually do is if one speaker (well so i found) is shorting out then the headunit doesnt send anything through the channels.. but will remain on.. just to prevent doing damage to a speaker etc.. anyway to cut it short... just check the wiring and make sure there has been no cuts where there is live wire touching metal, mainly in your speaker wiring.. cheers

That will cause it to do that i had this problem wit my gemi, the spkr wire was touching the inside of the door, and when u slammed the door, it would cut out for a sec.
