a few people were asking in the forum, so in a few lines i'll describe how easy it is to do! 1. take your back seat out - start with the bottom bit you sit on theres a bracket that looks like ____ |....| |....| |\...| |....| ------ (excuse the dots, the forum gets rid of multiple spaces so my pic looked all screwy without them) so you kindof have to push it in towards the boot and pull it up to get it over the little lip at the bottom indicatied by an arrow on the pic. sometimes to get the seat out, you'll have to knee into the seat while lifting it.. they're a bitch to get out sometimes!! 2. if you have back head rests there will be two black plugs (grommits) on either side, they're plastic, just pull the headrest up and fiddle with them until they pop off (they are screws in, but half a turn will release them) 3. take the back rest off by lifting it towards the roof and pulling back towards the front of the car 4. disconnect speakers if you have them in the car and remove at this point. 5. the parcel shelf may be screwed in, unscrew if it is, and just lift it out.. if its not screwed in, it'll just lift out! 6. put the new parcel shelf in, place the speakers in there and replace the seats... 7. have a beer Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Quote: I made mine, it will be out again soon so i can drill holes and bolt it to the baby seat points Yeah but just be careful you don't get done for having no child anchorage points... i'm sure if a cop decided to be really picky he'd have a go at you for it.

I immagine the Vk would be exactly the same for removal? I was thinking about making one but having the speakers and grilles recessed into the parcel shelf and then covering the entire shelf so the speakers cant been seen from the outside. Dunno what to use without muffling the sound though. Any thoughts? morepsi

house speaker cloth works fine to cover up speakers without muffling the sound.

just wondering what you use to make your new parcel shelf? mdf seems like a logical choice to me. what thickness do you use? also, do u bother cutting in the little vents at the back of the shelf? another thing, what are good yet cheap speakers to replace the little bog stock ones at the front. i literally know nothing about stereos so anything would be helpful. cheers sorry if this is such a dumb ass question but im new to this whole thing

titicaca I removed my parcel shelf last night and found that it was not damaged. I was planning to use 8mm mdf but the factory shelf has sound proofing stuff on the bottom and is fairly rigid. So I am just using my factory shelf and have cut the holes towards the centre. the conversion to 7x10's will be finished by tonight. As for your speakers in the front theres a thread covering that. On the weekend im converting the headunit (soon see how easy that is). Thanks for the guide mark, it took me ten minutes to remove the back seat and shelf. crap missed step 7.

yeah i spotted that thread but everyone is talkin in hundreds of dollars, where as my budget is in tens. im sure for $10 i could get something better than whats in there at the moment. ill seconds the thanks to the guide. i went and took it out just so i could see what would be involved and it took 10 minutes. unfortunately i didnt find any money under the seat but i thought it would be a goldmine under there. so basically if there is nothing wrong with the original shelf then its better to use that? sounds alot easier and less costly, which is the main problem for me. cheers Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

like it or not it might be a little bit more costly to put another one in, but unless u want **** tinny bass from ur 6x9's and ugly uneven holes cut, then putting in an MDF shelf or equivalent is ur only option. the reason being is that MDF has a better acoustic sound for bass and by making the custom shelf just a little bit bigger u can sit the 6x9's on this whithout even cutting into the sheet metal. Easy as that. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
