It is a five minute job. Fairly easy. The hardest thing I had to do when I replaced mine was remove the washer bottle so I could run the cable under it.

With my car when the cable snapped, I layed underneath the front of the car and reached my hand up and just pushed on the lever where the end of the release cable was still attached, that popped the bonnet for me... Also I didn't have an airconditioner condenser it was out being replaced and no intercooler being N/A.

To adjust your bonnet cable, one of my mates has to mount his battery against it to hold it tight, we only found this out one day as we closed the bonnet without the battery and we couldn't get it open, then he found out the battery was holding the cable nice and tight!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah do what Slick says. I've put my bonnet down enough times without cable in! by accident of course. Go the extra hog and reach up the ingine side of the radiator. It took ages to tweak it from the grill side.

i had the same problem when i had my vl... i took out the grill and played around with this hook pulling on the cable attached to release the spring, while a mate pushed on the bonnet.. eventually got it.. but yeh mine went from a slack.. so i replaced it... not hard at all to replace.. to get mine tight i used a clamp me old man had, that fit perfect in the place the cable ran just to the left of the radiator, u take the cover off (top front of radiator)and u can see the tension, just get it right and clamp the cable down tight to the body. I had no hassels after that hehe... not to hard a job.. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
