Allright this will probably sound stupid, but I basically want to know if it is safe to drive a VL without any piping from the turbo. I know it's not legal and is noisy, etc. but is it safe for the engine and the turbo? I want to know because I'm about to start on a conversion, and rather than buying a stock dump pipe, I'm gonna go straight ahead a have a 3 inch item put in. So is it safe for me to drive it to an exhaust shop straight after I've done the conversion, or am I better off getting them to make one up and buy it before I start. Also, how much have people here paid for their dumps, just to give me something to quote against Thanks

..hmmm good way to start a fire or burn a hole in your firewall!! Also the stock RB30ET dump contains the wastegate flap doesnt it? No boost, lots of noise and fire and sparks and fumes and no its not a good idea!! :| Borrow a stock dump to take it to the exhaust shop or trailer it if they 'need' to have the car there to make it. If its for a stock application then they should already be able to make one to fit without seeing it? But you mentioned conversion so I assume it isnt a stock setup?

Ok if the dump is still attached thats a little better - I'm not that familiar with how everything fits in a VL (not owning one myself), but as long as there isnt anything thats going to get too hot and melt/catch fire/burn in the way of where the exhaust gas is directed then it shouldnt do the engine any damage - but I'm not taking any responsibility for burning your car to the ground or asphyxiation through Carbon Monoxide poisoning! Actually - where is the oxygen sensor located?

Yeah man get the zorst done first coz it will be bloody LOUD!! Also you might want to look into getting the zorst place to replace all your manifold studs as well coz if they break while you are doing the conversion it is gonna be a nightmare drilling them out!!!

I drove mine to zaust shop with no pump etc, nothinh hanging off the turbo at all (VG30DET Turbo ie. wastgate still attached) didn't burn anything, but it was very loud and I had to stop once cause I was getting a little dizzy. I didn't think it did any damage to the turbo but it only lasted about 5-6 months so maybe I did damage it somehow. Get it trailered there, its not fun (or smart) getting dizzy from exhaust fumes while your driving

The oxy sensor is before the wastegate flap on the dump pipe I think I'll just trailer it... can you use one of the trailers you can rent from a servo?? Are they big enuff for a car?

Problem is I have just put my GTSII RB30 Motor in it and i'm planning on driving the 20kms there running straight out of the extractors Its actually not Tooooo bad if you keep the revs down  Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
