Posting for a friends car, He was on his way to work and as he was comming of the freeway he noticed a slight difference in power like the AFM had been disconected or something. So as he was turning of at the lights comming of the freeway the car was slowly dieing like it wasnt getting fuel or there was water in dizzy, it was choking and chugging and then stalled(engine stall not manual), He managed to get it on the sidewalk then after about 20 mins of sitting there he went to start it again and now he has been driving it for 3 days, He would like to find out what it could be or what happened Thanx Guys Richie

If it was the CAS, I don't see why it would be choking and chugging, every time my CAS has gone, the car just died, no warning at all, but everything else you have explained sounds like a CAS problem.

Did he have any signs of power loss (as in electricity) like his electronic gauges stopped, stereo cut out, lights died anything like that? It could have been as simple as a charging fault or something like a collapsed cell in the battery that caused. Its still a little weird that he's been able to drive it again though.. Crank Angle Sensor maybe?

well now he said he had some minor electrical faults in the past being sometimes no interior dash lights or radio would work then turn ignition off then on and then it worked fine, apart from that, thats all the electrical problems he has had, The day and time for the incident was 9am and it was fairly warm day but i think today and a few others have been hotter for him to be driving around like nothing hapened Richie

exact same thing happened to me about 6 weeks ago. my conclusion was that the fuel I had bought 2 minutes prior to my car running **** after i left the petrol station and stalling at the lights, was dodgy. the fuel was dodgy have not experienced anything like it since... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Exact same symptoms happened to me on the way back from Melbourne last year, except the whole scenario repeated itself all day long and turned the trip into a fourteen hour ordeal. It was my second crank angle sensor on the way out. Once things cooled down you could drive it for about twenty minutes before it started to lose power again. I found at lower revs I could keep it running for a little longer but after another ten minutes or so even that didn't help. If your mate is only making short trips it may not have had a chance to happen again........but it will. Oh, and for any Holden dealers out there listening, thanks for nothing. Three I contacted when I got back didn't even want to look at it stating it could take forever to diagnose what the problem was. In the end one of them put me onto some great guys here in Adelaide and they've had my business ever since.

I have a new and working CAS you can have for $75.00 Personally i would be checking stuff like the vapour lines for the fuel tank first. I had a similar problem of when the day was warm the fuel would start to vapourise in the tank and wouldn't burn properly. The thing would chug along for a bit then die... leave it to cool for 20 mins and it'd be fine.

Quote: while im typing, jay thats not wot i wanted to hear about ure car Dude I've got nothing to hide hey... just letting people in on a similar experience I had. Never had the problem since... i am almost certain it was the fuel. The circumstances pointed solely in that direction. Also if you were interested in buying my car then i'd be concerned that you didn't wanna hear that. but it sounds as though you aren't... although i'd do you a good deal coz i need to get rid of it... sorry to hijack !! Jay Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
