Cold starts and aftermarket computers, dont go together, especially if the tuner of the ecu doesn't know what they are doing. Has this problem just occured or have you just got the ecu installed? If they dont already have cold start maps from another car the same then generally you have to leave your car with the tuner for a week or so, just so he can get the fuel enrichment and stuff correct for cold starts. He only has one chance a day to do it, so its an extremely painful process. Mick

Microtech lt8 computers dont have a cold start function, ur jus gonna have to put up with it. mine uses a mt8 and it starts and runs very good when its cold, maybe ur tuner isnt very good.

They must use a water sensor and so forth to detect engine temp surely? It must use this reading to apply a certain offset to obtain the correct mixtures when cold, and at different operating temperatures. If it doesnt then it must be the most crappy computer on the market, if this is the case it wouldnt be worth five bucks :!: Im sure it has compensation somewhere in its maps/operation to cater for cold engine conditions? Mick agreed completely as rb30 power said , to get the cold start setup correct u will need to leave it with a competent tuner for a day or two. trialing the setup can only be done with one or two startups , after that it gets too hot. and cant be tuned. who installed ur computer? and tuned it?

Yeah got an LT-8 installed on mine as well and it usually revs a little below the 1k mark until the water temperature hits about 60degs .... after this, revs go up to just above the 1k mark. Settings used on mine were 'cut and pasted' so to speak from the settings on a friends VL which was tuned at chiptorque. I know the earlier model Microtechs don't have a fantastic name, but I haven't had any probs with mine so far.
