I just wondering how much a mx7 would cost 2 rebuild? I was at the drags saturday night when i lanched it, banged 2nd :x and wouldn't engage any gears . I'll be doing the work myself but am interested in how much it would cost 2 rebuild it. The shifter just flops around on the box so i think it may be a selector? :?: Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

you wont need a rebuild, i done exactly the same thing at eastern creek a few weeks ago. you have snapped the tab on top of the striking lever. go to nissan and ask for this part no 3289633P01. costs around $120. not to hard to do if you have all the tools. i just finished my box today (taking my time, i blew the motor in my sigma this week).

just out of curiosity though, what do you have to do to rebuild them? What sort of price would one look at if doing it themself?

Ive had mine apart a few times for different reasons, and yes i have broke the same part, easy as to replace, but rebuilding it will take a bit more time and patience, you will need a press and some blocks, i got mine done cause i dont own a press.

Jeezus, how the hell do you guys break these things? I was racing mine every weekend and I just had to get a clutch and replace the thrust bearing. Breaking selector forks, tabs, and left handed cleftnodules....bloody hell what are you doing to cause this sort of damage? cheerz morepsi

with brass button clutches, around 450hp and lightning quick gear changes ( no clutchless changes ) things start to break, as mentioned above.

Bump this ancient thread up. How much should I be looking at for repair on this sucker. 120 for the part is fair enough. But whats involved in replacement. Box stays in??

box comes out and it can be done if you have basic tools. just have a manual next to you and you will be surprised what you can do.

Cheers mate. I've dropped it off at the mechanics joint either way, Needed a RWC at the same time so Killing 2 with 1 stone. The guy knows that I know whats going on, and is calling me with a quote tomorrow. But now I know how it gets fixed to an extent. So I'll except minimal labour costs.
