What wou;d happen it I disconnected all of my emmision control system on my vk efi engine Will I loose performance, fuel economy and drivability

I asked a mechanic this once and its a bad idea, emission control sucks bad but without it the black engine will have a shorter life, use more fuel, it wouldnt idle correctly because of vacuum, and also its a straight defect, just keep it in and modify the engine.
