Hi guys,
Just wondering, I'm looking at getting an RB20DET half cut, and putting it all into an N/A VL. I was just wondering, can I use my old standard n/a exhaust for a while, until i get some money to upgrade to hi-flow 3" ?
I guess i'll still have to get a dump pipe and front pipe to the cat, but is it safe to use the the old n/a cat and cat back setup? Would it harm the engine or turbo in any way?
Thanks

No its fine, just dont put more than stock boost through engine though, you can **** your turbo up by running too much boost with to little exhaust.

can be done, but ow gawd dont be boosting it !!

Yer probably about that size exhaust from the factory.
But will be restrictive.. so it wont spool as fast and wont want to boost, dont try an force it either.

A 2.5 inch mandrel system could be fitted, with a chromie for under 300 bucks, u can run ya boost then.

I would do what boostedcal said and atleast aim for a 2.5" free flowing exhaust.
If you cant afford that, then i would really reconsider doing a engine transplant.
It will cost more $$ than you think, you know.
Cars have a nast habit of doing this.

once again your very right rb-30power -
you will never be able to do a "turbo performance" car on a budget.
there will always be something thats not there, goes wrong, or some one else stuffs up for you -
but keep at it - its all a big learning curve -but def worth it.... sometimes hehe - ok well - all the time

Why not just hang out until you get the kesh together to do the engine conversion AND full exhaust champ
