Questions stick em here and i'll get back to ya soon, and hopefully Geoff from Darwin will help also (The only two cars i know about).
Supercharging is Cheap, easy, reliable, and fully adjustable in the setup and you must admit being blown is by far the best thing going.

Are you planing on putting it on a dyno any time shortly? Would be interesting to see how it compared to various turbo setups.

You say " you must admit being blown is by far the best thing going "
Its a good new idea, but just wait till a VL Turbo kicks your arse. You might change your mind.
If it was the best thing, all the dudes running a 1000+hp at the wheel, would have twin blowers lol..........I do believe there running turbos....lol

stromy.. have u relocated ur powersteering pump to the other side of ur engine so that you can mount superchager where the pwr steering pump used to be ? i didnt manage to see the s/c that well in the pics.
using vlt injector/ecu i guess aswell ?
what boost u running ?

I dunno what sort of budget you're on, and am not making an assumption from the DIY blown setup but ....
Have you ever thought of going twin charged in the future ... turbo would be able to takeover from where the supercharger runs out of puff. Be bloody interesting to see the results of twincharging an RB30. I'm sure its been done before, just doesn't seem to be too much info on it.

running std ecu and inject at max boost of 8. powersteer pump on other side now yes to clear area for SC, although i'm still having trouble getting it just right so i'm happy with it.
as for my budget, well lets say takes me a week to save for a belt, i build car cause i enjoy building them, i send my car nowhere to have any thing done to it. from white gloved engine rebuild (mill it at work) to respray, electrical(one of my trades) to interior is the fun in building cars, when i finish chopping and changing then i will pull it all apart and manufacture all the mounts in stainless, polish them, put it all back together then look for a new idea to complete.
finally being blown may not have the horsepower you speak of from me anyway, but it sure as hell feels good to me, and the car goes good too.

Looks good man. Diy jobs always the best feeling. I gotta agree with some others though, You wont get the same rush from a SC as you will with a decent turbo or 2. But thats my opinion, If you like it that way then great keep it. Also dont get me wrong, with a decent charger you should be able to pull some decent horses. Enough to beat alot of vl turbo's. Basically its different and i love it, a vl with some originality.

What is your BHP estimate?

06-03-03, 16:28 GMT+10#12 i'd say i've spent 500 tops,could have been less if i thought of things before hand.
to do it now would cost
350 SC
60 X-over pipe
20 bits from wreckers
20 belt
20 belt-grip(thanks geoff)
30 misc elec bits
and some scrap steel
and time

07-03-03, 17:29 GMT+10#14 uploading some new pics now!
after reading what you wrote geoff about the water pump belt and bearings i've decided to go back to crank drive with belt grip to see if it's better than before. when i've got the two extra injectors and the water meth injection happening then i will work out some way of getting the drive speed back up to 2Xengine speed

05-04-03, 10:25 GMT+10#15 Hey Stromy,
Glad to be of help, and sorry to put the wind up you about the waterpump bearings, but I don't think they were designed with that kind of load in mind! You can use that V6 pulley [cut back to flat, with new guts welded in, that's how I did mine -$250 from friendly lathe operator] on the crank, but you will have to add a spacer to the fan mount for clearance.I used a 5mm piece of alloy under the fan mount which gave me about 4mm clearance, it's not much, but has not hit yet.
I'm not certain of this yet, but I believe the sc12 pulley may be smaller than the sc14's 110mm magnetic unit. I saw sc12 on a Suzuki setup some time ago, and the pulley certainly looked smaller than mine, but I did not measure it damn it. If someone has sc12, let us know the outer diameter of the pully please!

6000hp top fuelers run s/c's, so there goes your theory by about 5000hp

06-04-03, 03:35 GMT+10#17 been building a few bits me and my mate steve, he would be my master lathe man. good old barter system price reduced to nothing. Here's what we've done;
*constructed twin throttle body by facing the plenum on the throttle body side to accecpt a flat 1" thick riser for the twins. Drilled, and port matched the holes for the new air, mounted them 35mm apart measured between the inner mounting bolts, and waiting now to get tanked then welded, be ready fri
*added 4 extra injectors two fuel and two water methonol
*got hold of a old but never fitted brand new nippon denso intercooler
*started making drive pulley 210 in dia. started with 150mm of 210 steam pipe with wall thickness of 6mm,welded in a pulley centre off a old clevelend v8 welded on my p/steer pulley, just have to true up the outer edge add some grooves and we'll be done
* got a STI airflow meter
can't wait to get it all done this week hopfully

06-04-03, 10:11 GMT+10#18 It would appear that most people on this forum have yet to go for a drive in a blown car. No lag, boost everywhere, good sounds and fully driveable in big HP engines

08-04-03, 19:17 GMT+10#19 set up and drove blown 460 BB in XC coupe auto, nice machine. Also had a hand in on a Blown 510 Chev in a HG manual, never drove it cause the bloke testing it missed a gear change and sent the engine Rpm off tacho, RIP this one.
