my dad done mine, he's a panel beater.. cost me $0 obviously don't go to superior tyres on gympie road, they said $35/guard (rip off++) any panel beater will do it for you really, my dad just bashed it with a hammer in the right places.. the guy at superior took one look at me and probably made his mind up on the spot that I knew nothing about panel beating, so screw 'em.

also, it takes maximum of about 30 seconds per guard, which is why $35/guard is a rip job

most panel beaters WONT lip the guards for you as theres a chance of the paint job cracking or chipping and they certainly dont want the hassles of a customer sueing for a new paint job. just do it yourself girlie i did mine a few weeks back. -took the wheel off -got the hacksaw out and made a cut where the guard meets the top plastic strip on the bumper to enable the metal to bend easier -then hit the lip with a hammer for half and hour and the thing was perfect. no problems with it at all 8)

I had my rear guards rolled 2 days ago at a cost of $45 a side at Tyrepower Campbelltown. The paint only cracked a bit in one spot where it was visible, but i covered it with touch up paint. My car has 17x8 inch mags and never rubbed untill i lowered it 2 inches. After having them rolled they havent rubbed once, yet, but this may change once i get 5 ppl in the car. If the car has been lowered and an adjustbale panhard rod hasnt been fitted , quite often it will rub more on one side than the other because the rear axle alignment is out.

This is definitely a DIY job! It only takes 30mins and a bit of effort with a rubber mallet not worth paying someone to do it. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

DIY.. But what is the quality of the job? Sure it may not rub on the tyres anymore, but is the metal smooth and ripple free? Are there any cracks in the paint? You can do it your self, but if you stuff up and put a huge crack in the paint that is visible on the outside, you have got no one to blame but your self. Thats why i let the Pros do it, if they stuff up they can fix it! Or you can always do it the bogan way and attack the inside of the wheel arch with an angle grinder! Its costs nothing and takes less time than to write this reply! Its also a way of weakening the wheel arch and allowing for rust to set in when the bare edge isnt repainted. Good luck bogans Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I think slippery vl hit the nail on the head - best thing to do is to use the hack saw on both ends/side and then user a rubber mallet to bend it up - once you have cut the metal - it will flip into place fairly easily -

Hi guys I rent out a guard rolling machine and a heat gun for $60 a day located in Pakenham [phone removed]

wtf guys... mallets, angle grinders... what are you doing? Just place an appropriately sized piece of tubing in front of your rear wheel where the tyres starts to touch the body, roll the car backwards and the pipe will get caught between the guard and the tyre and fold back the guard lip perfectly. Just angle it enough so that it doesn't touch the outside of the guard. Takes under 30 seconds each side, and it's perfect - no hammer marks or sharp edges.

I bought a guard roller off ebay, can't **** it up. That way I can sell it or rent it out lol Remember if you grind/cut or basically expose metal in any way especially under the guard, be sure to remove metal tags, clean it, prime it and paint it or say hellow to rust.

this f4g advertising on every guard rolling thread should get the boot.... ive seen people stupid enough to even cut the whole lip off completely with an angle grinder lol

what do people do for the rear lip where the bumper joins? My upper control arm bushes got a little YOLO on a track day and caused a bit of rub. thinking I might need something a bit more drastic done to accommodate my 17x8 +35 rims... bit of a scrape with just me in the car, front and rear. not even low.

Used the guard roller and a heat gun. Wicked peace of kit. Took about 10 mins front and 20 mins rear. Painted calipers while I was at it so it took a few hours but all good. I tryed bashing it with a rubber mallet as a comparitive measure on the rear guard and gave up after 6 hits. As for crack got a few and my paints still soft but who cares! I'll just chip the old paint, sand, prep n touch it up. Compared to the underside of a vl a a quick fix on the inside of the guards is nothing. Price you pay for putting big wheels on the car nothing's for free.
