i recieved this email at work sounds like a good idea Received the following which sounds like a good idea. A very interesting idea...AND it will work if ALL Australians get behind it!!! We are going to hit close to $1.35 a litre by the winter. Want petrol prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Philip Hollsworth, offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whomever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP at 89 / .95 cents, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea. For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one: BP). If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all (and not buy at BP). How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 80cents a LITRE RANGE Action - It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Caltex, Mobil, g,a.s. or Gulf Outlets and drive right on by BP Stations.

Spot the chain letter. Ok if you feel thats what you have to do to get lower prices then go right ahead, as much as I am outraged by the prices and the windfall in taxes the governemtn is reaping I honestly dont see this working. I for one will not be boycotting BP as their fuel is the best on the market at this time. I wont fill my tank with anything other than BP Ultimate if I can help it. The Oil Companies line for the higher prices is... 1. Possible hostilities in Iraq. 2. The oil workers strike in Venezuala Its interesting that: 1. OPEC said they would up the production rates to compensate for any downturn in Iraqi oil produciton in the event of war. 2. The Venezuala strike is over and production levels are 95% back to what they were before the strike. (both sources Brisbane Courier Mail Thursday 27th Feb 2003). So yeah take what you want. The government doesnt care (600+ million a month in tax revenue from fuel), the ACCC doesnt have a spine and the oil companies are laughing themselves to death as they run to the bank. And you, the consumer, are getting screwed as per usual.

Great in theory, but unfortunatly companies, like where I work, have accounts with BP, which they aren't going to change in a hurry, and people aren't going to pay for fuel themselves, and wait for a re-imbursement from the company.

well i'm gonna do it coz I don't like BP they're always a cent or 2 more than shell etc i notice. I wish people would actually get behind this though... imagine what would happen if like every BP in australia saw a sales loss of over 50% from now...surely they'd go into some sort of panic mode and do something about their prices which may affect other petrol retailers prices ?????? that would be awesome...well I dunno why that would be awesome I just don't like giving them my money... *******s. from what I read there, if people really did get behind it, surely it could make a difference !?

It wouldnt hurt them, sure BP sales might fall but BP itself sells fuel to almost everyone here in Brisbane apart from Ampol/Caltex who have their own refineary. So yes the individual BP servo might suffer, but all those people going elsewhere will just be giving BP head office back what theya re missing anyway.

I don't care who the hell you are, i've used most and BP Ultimate is in my eyes the better fuel. If you think i'm gonna stop buying the fuel i want then you're sadly mistaken. And i can gaurantee you there are plenty of other people out there who will think the same.... IMHO, your idea sucks. And Pete is right, these servo's all buy from the big boys anyway, so what if you don't get it from them directly, its still their fuel. By not going to BP servo's all your going to do is hurt each individual small business owner who runs a BP Franshise... and i can bet my every last cent that if someone all of a sudden decided to screw over the small business where you work causing you to lose your job, you'd be the first ******* here pouring your bloody heart out to us about how unfair it was. Well thats my political bitch for today, don't even get me started on the bloody war everyone seems to be just pussy footing around.

I was informed that Woolies are supplied by BP. So therefore you will have to stop all of the discount fuel buyers and their Woolies dockets. Against the will of BP there can be no victor. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

But what I find funney is that all the survos tanks have fuel in them so its already bought and they put up the prices so how does that work I think that is unfair and cause the gov make millions of it in tax they dont care

The new BP has been consistantly cheaper since it opened. 7-11 and shell/mobile were at 106.9 where as BP Was still at 95.9 cents, for at least 1.5 days. Mobile1 around here seem to always have thier prices up even though the rival servo across the road is still 5 cents cheaper due to the tuesday-thursday price fall. Best time to fill up is Wednesday or thursday if its still cheap, as friday its bang, 10 cents more expesive overnight. Shell seem to follow the day-price trends, and lower the optimax to suit, whereas mobile seem to lower their Regular price, and still have the 8000 price in the vicinity of $1.15. BP is the go for me, but i tend to fill up the daily driver with independant outlets (7-11, etc, but not safeway!) sine mobile is the closest Major retailer, who is also a rippoff. Depends where im at and how much cash i got Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Hi Guys, I've classed this as offically bagging a company, and is therefore being closed. Sorry.
