In my n/a VL, I'm just wondering what I would expect if I got an auto diff and swapped my manual one.. (from manual->auto, manual gearbox) low-end preformance? (better for 1/4 miles etc?) but a loss of high-end speed right? (how much though) and which is worth more at a wreckers, the auto or the manual (rough guess..) just looking for small things I can do to improve preformance now, In a few hours I should have my new gearbox in and ready to go..

the diffs are exactally the same, regardless of the box. same diff for manual and auto.

all VLs diffs have the same ratio, ie 3.45:1 except V8s which had 3.08:1. if you want a lower ratio best to chase up an r31 skyline centre and get it swapped. they had 3.7s and 3.9s from memory. best to find out exactly if it will fit though as im not 100% sure which skyline had what ratio and whether or not they were 25 or 28 spline. na vls had 25 spline. turbos had 28 spline

The R31 Auto's had the 3.9, the Manual's had the 3.7. They were BW 2 bolt 25 spline, same as the n/a VL's. VLT have the BW 4 bolt 28 spline diff.
