I think it's cool
Ford/Holden are getting boring and need a bit of competition
I quite like the magna's apart from the fact they're front wheel drive (in stock form) :?

theyll be rear wheel drive. no offence but ive gotta disagree with u, the v8 supercars are an aussie tradition, why change it :?:

Holden and Ford are both trying to block it now, can't see it happening if they are against it.

meh who cares, it'll just be a different body shape. Prolly use all chev internals, just buy an old Holden V8SC and put a Magna shell over it.
Couldn't care less if Mitsubishi enter or not. Can't really see the point unless they are going to put a rear wheel drive V8 in their line... or better yet, AWD... mmmm... 4WD V8....
meh even if they did no-one would buy it I think. A Japanese V8? Wouldn't sell too well, I think the whole appeal is the Australian tradition of Ford & Holden, but that's just me.

Mitsubi**** were thinkin of joinin LAST YEAR and Holden didnt care if they entered but ford didnt want them at all. Mitsubishi were also thinkin of doing the RWD production chev V8. but since ford said NO last yr, Mitsubishi were gona forget about all of it.

Well one of the head guys of Mitsubishi was at Phillip Island, liked what he saw and told them to do a proper investigation into costs etc, with the view of joining the series in 2005, but Holden and Ford are both trying to stop them from entering for fear of loosing their massive investment in the series, from a manufacturer who comes in and spends a lot for a couple of years, wrecks the forumla and then pisses off.

I think it's a good idea, about time there was a change, sick of just seeing holden and ford...
The AWD V8 magna would be a very nice idea...
Ford only doesen't want the magna's in there cause the falcons will probly get beaten by them...

couldnt care less my biggest problem is with the whole catagory same suspension same gearboxes same diffs same chasis diffrent shell the only thing related to holden on the holden supercar is the shell even the motors chev.

01-05-03, 20:06 GMT+10#10 The chassis are different, comes off the Holden and Ford production line exactly the same as your stock standard vx or ba would, and I don't think we need to get into the whole chev argument again.......

01-05-03, 23:26 GMT+10#11 i think it's a good idea - it'll add some diversity to the ever so boring 'holden vs ford' bull****.
what will really be good is that if the magna actually wins a few rounds - it will shut both die hard holden and die hard ford fans up!!

02-05-03, 04:30 GMT+10#12 mmm I cant imagine mitsubishi doin well at all in it anyway
I think a good V8 supercar comes down to tuning and setup, and Ford & Holden know their cars inside out because they have been racing them for so long
Mitsubushi have a 10 year deficit to catch up on

02-05-03, 06:15 GMT+10#13 this is just me, but touring car racing sucks. no offence - but its so boring watching holden and ford year by year competing against eachother, i would love to watch it though if there was alot more competition for these big 8's - bring back the gtr's i say

02-05-03, 17:02 GMT+10#14 Petros, how about you watch Formula One, thats cheque book racing at its best, and thats what was happening with the old Group A rules, also happened with the DTM in Germany and the SuperTourers in Britain/Europe, we don't want to see that here again. Also the economy isn't exactly booming atm and most categories around the world are taking cost cutting measures, the last thing we need is to bring back slack rules.

03-05-03, 06:46 GMT+10#15 V8 Supercars is entertaining & practical from a racing point of view, I enjoy watching it. The racing is intense and competitive (with an obvious exception :P ) so yeah.
but just that the cars have nothing to do with road cars and there's only 2 possible cars, it's not as cool as it used to be, but I guess that died with Group A.

03-05-03, 12:50 GMT+10#16 Don't talk to me about Mitsubishis.
In our experience they are just oil burning heaps of crap than need an engine rebuild every 150,000 - 200,000 kms.

there are plenty of competitions involving gtr's. they just dont get on tv and have no where near as much money spent on them because no one cares. v8 supercars are popular because of what they are. you dont have to like them but then again you probably dont like netball either, doesnt mean they can just change it to basketball coz it entertains you more.
